  1. Great run today. Thanks for keeping me going folks, and thanks for the lift, Alan. Finished with the back tyre well on its way to being flat, so lucky it lasted till then. My stats for today - Trip Time 09:11:10 Riding Time 06:45:08 Riding Distance 96.95 ml Altitude Gain 5245 ft Avg Speed14.4 ml/h Boyd
  2. OK, I'm good for Sunday - as long as the forecast holds. I have the car and a 2-bike carrier if anybody is looking for a lift from the Paisley area. Boyd.
  3. Hoping to make this one - assuming I get back from Ireland ok. Was hoping to take the train down to Ayr, but the first train from Glasgow does not get to Ayr until almost 10:00, so will need to make some good brownie points to get the car on Sunday. Boyd
  4. Well done guys. Hope the 'lost boys' made it home ok. No way I could have managed that sort of distance, so I'm glad I took the easy way home - via Fairlie Moor.
  5. I expect to be at the clubhouse for an 8am start, but at the moment I'm not sure if I'll have the time to go over the water as we're off on holiday next week, so there's a bit of pressure from Mrs J and I may just carry on to Largs and home again. Boyd
  6. It only took a couple of months, but we finally completed Reliability 2 Good social run, with the emphasis on social. Thanks, folks. See you in a couple of weeks. Stats from the new toy, including the short run from my house in Paisley - not much more than two miles : Date 2012.05.20 Activity Type Cycling - Road Cycling Riding Time 03:41:23 Riding Distance 50.02 ml Altitude Gain 2804 ft Calories Burned 1557 Kcal Weight Loss 70 g Avg Temperature 53.4 oF Difficulty Level 3 (30.8) Avg Speed 13.6 ml/h
  7. Sorry - meant Reliability 2 : http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1787383 Bowfield, Lugton, Dunlop, Stewarton, Fenwick loop around through MOscow and same route back (in reverse) Bail-out options to turn round again at Stewarton or at Fenwick. I've got the route loaded - just need to work out how to use it. Open to other suggestions, though.
  8. Should this not be for the 20th? I'll be there for 09:15. I thought I might try to load the first reliability run into my new Bryton and then try to follow that route. Along with several others I got a bit lost on that one, so it would be good to find the correct route. I'll check out the bail-out options on that one. If anybody else has other thoughts, then I'll be happy to go along with the consensus.
  9. Agree. Very windy at the moment - which is likely to be more of a problem than the rain. See you next week, hoping summer might put in an appearance.
  10. Greig, as a newcomer to the club, my take on this, having attended the meeting, is that there were several objectives. The first was to try to be inclusive and come up with rides that could include a wider mix of people than just the intermediate group - hence the idea of 'social rides'. We've already had at least a couple of runs this year where people from the thirty-milers and the intermediates have set out on the same run. This gives an opportunity to people wanting to move up from the thirty-milers to take on some slightly longer runs. Last Sunday's run, for example, was planned so that there was the possibility of people adding an extra loop of about 12 miles to the basic run if that was what they wanted to do. The second objective was to bring in a bit more variety to the runs and to spread the load, of deciding the route and leading the group, around a bit. Tony has been doing a great job for the intermediates, but we should not just be dependent on Tony doing the organising, and it's great that Bill and Mary are willing to take on some of that work. The third was to bring in a few longer runs and 'away' days for those who want to do these and can fit them in. It was recognised that this would not suit everybody, and it was expected that local runs would be organised for these days as well. Tony has already posted in the other thread about the thirty milers what his ideas are and I don't see a problem with setting off as a single group and splitting at some point. It just needs some positive ideas for the thirty milers - either doing their own route or how they are going to handle the rides with the 'social' group.
  11. I should be there, Tony. No preference for the run. Commiserations to Bill.
  12. Big thanks to Richie and Chung for hauling me round as far as Strachur today. Great pacemaking from Chung down Loch Fyne. He's obviously in pretty good shape. Hope Richie survived the rest of the run ok. Finished with 87 miles on the clock, so a good day's training even if I did bail out. At least I had Alan for company back to Gourock. Back to the intermediates for some recovery next week - I know my place.
  13. I'm doing Rivers, Lochs and Glens tomorrow . Should be there next week.
  14. I should be able to make this, Tony.
  15. Tony, I'm not far away and I can usually make it most evenings, except dry Tuesdays when the golf course gets a visit, so I'm happy to come along. I'll watch for you posting a date/time. Boyd
  16. I have just signed up for this one. May take the car down to Gourock as the mileage is stretching it a bit for me. Will confirm this later - depends on the wife - so there may be room for a passenger or two.
  17. Enjoyed the run on Sunday - great to have such a big bunch out there. Pity I had to miss the cak-stop. Apologies to Brian for not waiting through Brisbane Glen. Had to time-trial it back to Paisley once I got up the Clune to pick up the track at Auchenbothie, and was still half-an-hour late with 60 miles on the clock. Cold pizza for lunch . See you all next Sunday, hopefully.
  18. I expect to be there. Brian's route looks fine to me. I need to be home for 1pm, which we should manage ok for the 50 miles.
  19. I'm hoping to be there. Hopefully no punctures and no rubbing brakes Boyd
