  1. I see there are 11 of us on the start line. Did someone not make it or pull out? That's including the elite and non elite
  2. :) I had actually wondered if I could buy the Potenza 11sp shifters and mechs and make them compatible with my current 10sp so I could use the new Campag 32 cassette!!
  3. Yes...I read our Facebook message again and he had reserved us in the youth hostel.
  4. Great...anyone that didn't make it? Numbers by tonight for accommodation. Are we booking rooms in our groups of 4 as well?
  5. The website says the folk who apply will find out a few days after the lottery is held!
  6. EDIT: Actually Davie...I see you're staying Sat and Sun? I've got the Sun off but I'm working Sat and Mon. Worse case, I'll have to leave after work around 4pm on Sat but could maybe get away about 2pm. I'll have to drive home after the event on Sun so I might be better waiting to see everyone else's plans if you want to post up? I'll assume Geo wants to come unless he's one of Darryl's group? 1) 2) Alex B 3) Geo 4) DavidC 1) Robbie 2) Ryan 3) McGinty 4) James And the others... Darryl Charlie Eric Billy Davie B Paul L Alan Fox
  7. Good plan David. For booking, it doesn't matter does it? Unless, say one group 4 chums get in and want to ride ave stuff the rest Either that or all in or none in?
  8. Anyone tried a race yet? Saw a Cat D was going on last night...3 laps of the mountain route. Cat D was supposed to be up to a max ave of 2.4 w/kg. It was some workout!! Guess it made me realise I could go a bit faster than normal!
  9. The descents are great. You can do 50 mph without having to brake! I'm fearless now!!
  10. Yes!! I was using an iPad but today I bought an adapter to use from my phone to plug into a wee 20" tv I bought!! Make sure you click on the Everest challenge early doors. That's how you get the Tron bike. Takes a loooong time apparently. Read someone saying recently how they'd completed the required 50,000ft or whatever it is, of climbing but they didn't have the bike. They hadn't joined the challenge so they'll be doing it all again!!!
  11. Is there a definite advantage with sitting on wheels? I think my wattage drops slightly when I see 'me' sitting up a bit but I wasn't sure if a few watts was a real world number. I feel there's a definite mental thing going on to keep me hanging on a wheel. Still to find a race to have a go at.
  12. Thanks again Darryl...forgot I'd posted in 2 sections. Ok....just need to divide into groups of 4 and see what comes of that
  13. Cheers. So...if we all apply as groups of 4 and every one but one group get in, is that just tough on the guys that don't get in? I would've thought it might be unlikely that only 4 of us would make the trip down on another weekend? A big group would be nice. All for one etc If I read it properly, I think if you're lucky to get in, the payment is taken straight away so it's not as if we could then cancel if we don't all get in? Unless they would refund you.
  14. Mhmm. I've not had a problem and that's my wifi having to reach my iPad in the garage. How accurate do you find stuff like FTP?
  15. Did Mountain 8 on Watopia last night!! Jeez! Think it was best part of 5 miles of climbing. Pretty realistic as I was doing my usual 8mph on the steep bits Really liking it
  16. Is it the orange logo or blue?
  17. Hi folks. Well, had my first ride round London for an hour tonight. Enjoyed Zwift and my smart trainer. I like Sufferfest because it feels like there's more atmosphere with the race you're watching etc but Zwift makes you work. Do you find it to be quite accurate? At one point I increased my rpm by quite a bit but my speed didn't really change. Maybe my trainer just had to catch up? The hills seemed hard enough based on the gradient although I took about 11 mins to do Box/Fox Hill and someone got up there in half the time!! Maybe one for Billy that he might have touched on....with Sufferfest you vary your speed etc based on the footage but I guess with Zwift it's up to you to increase your effort or else you're just riding round? Last thing was that I can't connect to Strava yet.
  18. Cheers. I'm on the iPad and had a look at some menus. I saw the drop down for Mountain etc Just so I know I'm not missing something
  19. I'm excited about my Zwift debut on Thurs night...probably about 9pm once the kids are in bed!! What's recommended? Just pick a course to ride round to start with? You guys always seem to do Watopia but there are a few are there not? Are races only at particular times? Are they hard? I had a wee pedal when I was setting up and liked how my smart trainer increased the pressure on hills but how realistic should it be? I was in a higher gear than I might normally be on a 12% section. Any other info...fire away Cheers Xxx
  20. The iPad props up in it's case on my shelving unit
  21. Cool. Cheers guys. Just didn't know why it was giving me a choice rather than both
