Hi,
I plan to leave Bridge of Weir around 6.30am to arrive around 8am at Drumlanrig so as to start at 8.30am. I wont be driving fast as I am counting the pennies at present but I have room in the car for anyone wanting a lift. If no-one wants a lift then I will take a spare bike in the car in case I need it, but am happy to lend it to anyone else if they have a problem. I intend doing the 100 miles so I will be coming home at the end of the day (not too late I hope). Let me know if you want a lift.

Hi,
Forthcoming Road Closure - A761 Bridge of Weir / Kilmacolm Road: -
The above road will be closed on 28th April 2014 for 5 days to allow resurfacing works. With the exception of buses, all traffic will be diverted via Torr Road and B786 to Kilmacolm and vice versa. Arrangements will be made with buses to allow managed access through the road works. Inverclyde Council have no road works in the area at the same time.
A map showing the diversion can be see at this website: https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=518642058245526&set=a.194820813960987.38542.191955207580881&type=1&theater

They aim to get people arriving between 12 and 1 for the lunch break so stagger the starts for this (they dont start the afternoon lap until after 1) but if you are outside this then its ok too - latest start for the afternoon loop is 2.30pm so as long as you average about 12mph you'll have time to complete the morning loop plus also have time for a lunch break. Obviously you'll be able to go slower than this too but that will cut into the cake eating opportunities!
Thanks, this is very herlpful. Well, hallawrerr china!

For those doing the APR beware the pothole after the bridge (beside the ammunition fields) on the return leg of the circuit which took out my rear wheel today. Usually visible but puddle filled today !
Hi Colin, Sorry to hear about this. I think this might be in North Ayrshire Council. If that is the case then you can report it at this website address: http://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/resident/roads-and-travel/report-a-roads-fault.aspx
I'm afraid I don't know the area well enough to report it myself. You might want to make claim for the damage as well.

Hi,
ROAD CLOSURE B:790 - HOUSTON ROAD, HOUSTON AT GEORGETOWN
I refer to previous correspondence advising of the closure of the above road from this morning.
I can advise that the works taking place today are emergency drainage works that are essential for road safety and could not be delayed. There are also associated works required to the road surface and ideally we would have preferred to do all these works at the same time. However, in view of the road closure by Scottish Water at Barochan Road in Johnstone we have taken the decision to postpone these surface works to limit the disruption being experienced by road users in the area.
We will programme the remainder of the works for a later date which will involve the closure of the B790 and will advise you of this nearer the time.
However, due to a problem with resurfacing of the work done today, the resurrfacing will be done at 5am tomorrow and should finish by 7am. The B790 should therefore reopen tomorrow at 7am.
Regards,
James

Road Closure
Barochan Road is due to be closed on the 31st March for a maximum period of 10 days!
The closure will be from the Deafhillock Roundabout to Rowanlea Resource Centre in a southbound direction only. The reason for the restriction is to allow George Leslie to complete the final phase of water pipe works. The proposed diversion route will be Bridge of Weir Road, Kashmir Avenue, Linwood Road, Linclive Roundabout, A737, A737 Barochan Interchange, Barochan Road.

Thanks for this James. Some much-needed work.
Lochlip Road in Lochwinnoch is very poor at the moment with a 3 ft by 2 foot 6 inch crater. This is part of Sustrans Route 7.
Len.
Thanks Len, this has been reported.

Any chance of getting that section of road where the water rehab is going on re-surfaced while they've got the gear on site? It's in a bit of a state as it is.
Hi Alan,
Barochan Road is due to be re-surfaced anyway. Best wait for the Scottish water to finish I think, there again, who will dig it up next!

James

Barochan Road, Johnstone, Cochranemill Road, Johnstone and Darluith Road, Linwood - Proposed Scottish Water site works
Scottish Water have programmed works this month to complete the Muirdykes water rehabilitation project that initially commenced in July 2012. The works will result in an improvement in water quality and will involve lining and repairs to their existing water pipe network.
The works will commence on Monday the 17th of March with traffic signals on the Barochan Road between the Deafhillock Roundabout and the A737 and on the Bridge of Weir Road between the Deafhillock Roundabout and the St. Benedict’s Roundabout. This will allow the contractor to fabricate a temporary water pipe bypass that will allow works to be carried out on
the main network. This phase of the works will last for 2 weeks with the main phase commencing on Monday the 31st of March.
The main phase will be carried out under a southbound lane closure on the Barochan Road, between Deafhillock Roundabout and the A737, and is expected to last for 4 weeks (depending on findings on site). At the end of the main phase the traffic signals will be re-sited on Bridge of Weir Road and Barochan Road to allow for the removal of the temporary water pipe.
Similar works will commence on Darluith Road, Linwood on the 6th of April until the 21st of April where a plastic lining will be inserted into the water main between Gilmartin Road and the Barochan Junction. This will be carried out in incremental sections using a combination of 2-way and 3-way traffic signal control.
The final section of the works will commence on site in Cochranemill Road, Johnstone on the 14th of April for a period of 4 weeks. As with Darluith Road this will involve the insertion of a plastic lining in the water main and will be carried out in incremental sections under traffic signal control.
Hope this is helpful.

James

Hi,
Bridge of Weir
The single track part of Kilgraston Rd, BoW is bad for pot holes at the moment.
Al
so, on Lawmarnock rd, BoW going between Lawmarnock Farm and Burntshields, just at the top of the hill heading south, on the left, there are some nasty pot holes.
Regards,
James
-
Thanks James, too late for me. I scrapped a pair of wheels there last month. I used to know exactly where the holes were below the water but the whole section is dissolving and I was caught out.
Concrete has been poured into one of the holes but more have opened up.
It has been wet for four months and is really a ford!
Sorry to hear about this Alan. Has anyone ever claimed the council for damage to their bike?
-
sorry, no longer for sale.
