  1. Who proposed that :uzi

Bit of an unusual one as the bunch split into 3 at various points of the day and a quite serious mechnical was sustained, crank come off David's (?) bike so hope you got home OK.

North Ayrshire variations were promised and delivered to presumably variable reviews ;-) before a blast along the coast and up the Brae, the moor road striking fear into the hearts of even the strong men of the peloton. Regrouped at the top before the time trialling started, I made the mistake of sitting up on the back at this point to ask for a reduction in pace, needless to say I ended up descending into Kilbirnie alone where I waited for Martin and Mark before cruising home.

I'm away to wash my bike now.

  2. Tom - better of asking that Schleck fellow :-?

Paul - I can never time it very well but if you start along the track slowly I will sure I will hook up with you on the way.

    See you then

  3. Blast ....there goes my North Ayrshire back roads to Ardrossan followed by a blast along the coast road and up the Col de la Fairlie Moor run thwarted.....the tracks for wimps ;-)

I'll be at the club rooms at 9 whatever and will decide then, any time constraints will be taken into account.

Paul, promise we will pick you up on the way and a note to take care when shifting with SRAM when attacking on the Fairlie ;-)

    Cheers,

    Davie

  4. Colin / Richard, All....

I am not too hung up on the Largs run - if it suits you better you can nominate another route which will keep you closer to home, I just want to get some miles in the legs as I won't be able to get out mid-week.

I could also make it on Saturday if this helps, and as for time at the club rooms is 09:00 better?

Post up and we will come to an agreement which suits the majority.

    Cheers....

  5. Will be at club rooms at 08:15. Anybody else planning to meet here(?), before heading to the bridge.

Weather forecast looking "reasonable" at present and hopefully the wind will die down a bit.

  6. Anybody interested in reprising the run which was proposed by Richard a couple of weeks ago - called off due to the Monsoon season. The route being ...to quote Richard:

    Erskine Bridge > Drymen > Gartmore > Aberfoyle > Duke's Pass > Loch Venachar > Callander > Braes of Greenock > Gartmore > Drymen > Cycle Route 7 > Home.

I reckon that's about 77 miles bridge to bridge. There are some decent climbs in there; beautiful scenery, too. I've been on most of those roads at one time or another. The single track between Drymen and Gartmore would be new to me. I've included it because it would take us away from the traffic on the main road and it looks OK on Google Streetview.

Go for an earlier start 08:15 at club rooms - but stress somebody else (Richard?) would have to navigate.

  7. Billy,

Am planning to make it out on Sunday as I need to shed some of the hideous number of calories sustained during my bruv's stag weekend in Brighton followed by a mid week business trip to Ireland.

  8. Billy,

Only joking about the Largs run, the Brisbane Glen is one of the gems I have discovered since joining the club, and this coming from a North Ayrshire boy into the bargain. Loads of options both to and post Largs to mix it up a bit as well.

Colin's run is tempting and we should plan to do something in this area soon.

  9. Colin,

Am considering framing your post as it is probably the only time I will be described as "zipping off the front" Oh ya dancer !

Thankfully you didn't mention when I was dropped on the flat by yourself and Frank - I just hope you were making an effort at this point :angryfire

Anyway will work on your "interval after interval" plan which will hopefully make me better able to sustain the long hard pushes.

    Cheers,

    Davie

  10. Richard,

You are surpassing yourself you normally wait until you can at least see a climb before you start moaning about it

Your protests would be slightly more believable if you actually looked as if you suffered going up them ;-)

Anyway looks like a real class run but can't make it as I am dog sitting, so will just have to make do with the Largs tedium on Sunday.

    Enjoy,

    Davie

  11. Billy,

Should be able to make it for this one.

Are you planning to go straight to Johnstone once you hit Dalry or go a more adventurous route home? Plenty of options depending on time, weather and energy levels.

  12. Hi Tom,

As discussed if you have any problems tomorrow call me on 07876 145673 or on the house phone.

Basic directions to my house if you are driving through Glengarnock from the Beith direction are go thru' traffic lights at small bridge and turn left immediately on crossing the bridge this will take you down past the school, then turn right, then left and you will enter Craigends Road which are the houses facing the field.

    Cheers,

    Davie

  13. Tom,

Have you still got space for me and my bike in your car? The need is now pressing as my car is off the road :-(

I can make my way out to you if you can provide me a meeting place / time thats handy for yourself.

I will PM my mobile number to you tonight.

    Cheers,

    Davie
