Haven't looked at the photos yet but not expecting to be looking my best!!
The event was fantastic and the support from the locals really made a difference.
This was my first sportive and I had hoped to be under 5:30; I was delighted with a 4:43. My computer was not working so I had to do it the old fashioned way - maybe there is a message there for me.
I managed to get going after an hour and kept latching on to faster groups going by, eventually managing to keep up with one group for a good while. I was very surprised to find myself thinking "only six miles to go" instead of the more usual "Oh s**t still six more miles to go".
I was ready for the Logerait hill thanks to Billy and luckily managed to avoid those who were caught out.
More hill work required and getting into my stride earlier will be the aim next year. Aiming for sub 4:30. (I like a challenge)
Being there as part of a team would be great.

Yeah Billy
Well It didn't stop us from having a bottle of red. Serious cyclists were not impressed in the hotel (read jealous) because we all got hammered on Sunday night.
We have both registered for next year already.
Fantastic day and the support from the crowds (well ok the odd family en route)was superb!!
Would be good to put in as a team for next year.

I'm heading up also. Heidi and I are both doing it. Not sure what time we're heading off though.
I'll look out for you overtaking me at some point!!

I can't make it this wek either unfortunately.
Godd idea on posting some routes for the coming months though.
Also is there any central point where I can find out what's happening during each week?

I went back and forth along Main Road until 9:05am when I saw 3 guys go by on the dual carriageway. I raced after them and caught them at Findlaystone. After having tagged along for another 500m I managed to get enough air into my lungs to speak to them. They are from Bishopton, one of them being the guy who organises the Millport day at the end of May
I did about 55km with them and then another 35 on my own.
Now back home and even washed the bike!!
I think the hills would have been even more miserable today than where we went so no great loss.

Guys
Not sure which way you are coming so if you come into Langbank along Main Road, I'll get you at the entrance to Station Road (first Left) and we can carry on out the other end of the village.

I think I should make it too.
Colin I was thinking about taking the car down but I could ride down from Langbank, if you want to meet up?

Hi Guys
Assuming the snow keeps a respectful distance, I have just joined the club and intend coming along for my first club run.
Hopefully I should be able to keep up with the slow group, but I'll bring a tow rope along just in case.

I have a Flying Scot Continetal Tourer which I have had from the tender age of 15. That was a long time ago!
It has gathered a considerable amount of dust on my garage wall for too many years and I have decided that it is time to breathe new life into it. I know Dales can offer the painting and chroming of the frame but would appreciate any help or suggestions on where I can beg, steal, borrow or buy other components to bring it back to its former glory.
Thanks
Tom
