  1. BTW. Excellent fun. Totally shredded by the first two from scratch group who passed us v early, then a couple more including Mike. Lifelike anxiety waiting for your name to pop up in the chase group!
  2. Hi George, I was next to go. Absolutely busted. Spent 15k in futile chasse patate. Few chancers in our group who took advantage of our honesty. Xxx
  3. Omg. Did not see that Mike has increased to "30k".
  4. Who else in first group tonight? I am hoping to gradually increase pace to keep bunch together rather than smashing it from the start.
  5. Billy, I continued and the "route" went left up a wee road. A few other jwcc were there continiuing but I collapsed at about 58 mins from start. Is it possible you went straight on a minute after the finish?
  6. will join. suggest group 1 (first group) gently wind up the speed to keep together rather than going mental and blowing the bunch up. I would like to stay ahead of chasers if poss.
  7. Good ride with nice surges and silly banter cheered me up. I should have been prepared for the surge that came before the 50 mins and left me standing. Mia and I cruised the final 10 minutes.
  8. Ta. How do you see Zwift and Companion at same time?
  9. I am still learning to set up kit at least 15 mins before start to allow for tech glitches.
  10. Does the app allow you to see the time gaps to riders more than a few places ahead/behind?
  11. BBC I player. The Town that Thread Built. Some of you will have lived it. I moved here the year the last mill closed so never knew it.
  12. Thanks again Mike. Yes I like the idea of APR if you could make it work. Would you just let people go off at 1-2 min intervals after first lap?
  13. Excellent workout. 5km easy, 5km desperate hanging on and 10k on futile catch up.
  14. That sounds great and probably less upsetting than rb. Hope to see some of you there. Would it be ok to post on club WhatsApp?
  15. I think the idea is that you have a flying start, already doing about 5w/kg as the gun goes! I am going to try tomorrow. Probably means I'll blow up even earlier. We shall look back on this thread and laugh.
  16. Darryl, one suggestion is to rev up and hit the start super hard. Might be an April fool but I will give it a try.
  17. Ta both. Will stick at pre-lockdown weight (ahem). If I am dropped and meet another Wheeler I suggest we neutralise and try to cruise at 2.5-3w/kg for the duration. I have not yet tried "drafting". I have to plan all this in advance because I cannot text in game. So sad that I have come to this level of nerdism.
  18. I'm probably not fit enough anyway but I'd be grateful for any tips to avoid being dropped after a few minutes like last week. In fact I did not even join the bunch or see any other bunch members, I just saw the beacon leader disappearing into the distance. I only caught up with Andy after about 15 mins. Do I just ride harder? Or get to the start faster?
  19. Aaaargh. No fans? Massive chapeaus all round. I have a bit of fun with mine cos I have to hop off to switch it on. It's ok on the no-drop ride but deadly when racing because the bunch are not going to slow for me! I'm going to get a remote plug switch to turn it on after 10 minutes.
  20. Thanks Iain, I tried to chase you after the end of the ride but you totally rode off into the distance! Alan Thompson tried to ambush en route! I alternated easy/hard between corners which almost made it bearable.
  21. Thats cos I was stuck about 1k behind you for first 5 mins. It was our algorithm overlords who were laughing at you. Mwah ha ha.
