  1. Jim thanks for the photo's of the new track it looks more like a go kart track . For all of us that can remember west horn ( London road) track well Bellahouston hasn't a patch on west horn even with its pot holes first time ive known a track to have a kerb around it . Lets hope Jim's photos are not doing the track justice. to quote( Star Trek ) track not as we know it not as we know it !!!
  2. I read with some amusement on vertical drops outs track ends etc in the days not that long ago ( I can just see alot of you raising the eye brows and saying here he goes again ) before all our current aluminun and carbon frames . Many cyclists stripped down there summer road , touring going to work bikes and put them on to fixed wheels but in those days we ALL had a lack of CASH and steel bikes which went just as fast . ( AND still used on the track to this day) what we had then was all some of us could afford . Manual labour wasn't a spaniard then or now get the drift want to ride fixed strip down the bike change the wheels , take off if you have one the old type cassette ( some of us will still have them) shorten the chain put a fixed on and have a GO stop putting barriers up and saying I DON'T HAVE ONE of these look at the the bigger picture if you've got a bike you've got a fixed with little or no work involved theres plenty of people in the club with the knowlege to help if required . DOOLEYS have good track double fixed wheels that will make the job even easer .
  3. Simon if you've got 10 inches (250 mm) to boast about youve got the part in the movie . Now back to the fixed comfort is around 70 to 76 inches work out the inches as supplyed by Simons tables.

    lights

Well what about giving the light thing a rest lets keep it simple its dark you need lights no matter what your lights costs or my light is better than yours ! or my HI vis vest is better than yours so what . The old saying is KISS standing for Keep it simple stupid just who are we trying to educate here all the methods that have been posted have been tried and tested since they walked in front of first the motorised vehicle with a red flag. Next Tony if it was'nt for the sniper you would be out of business or have you forgot what you do for a living. Stevie Do what the rest of us have had to do Learn to drive for the price of the Edison 4 is the price of a course of driving lessons ! and ive bought plenty of cars for the price of a winter bike. Now lets get back to cycling just for a change ???????? Sorry if this has offended anyone but i could'nt give a monkeys have a nice day now cheers Bob
  6. Sounds like you've got it all sewn up for the winter Steve would like to join you but someone's got my winter wheels !!!!!
  7. Well a good day had by all we started with approx 30 riders from all different clubs . A couple of mishaps along the way. Firstly on the Erskine bridge Dennis took a spill his rear wheel pulled from the frame all was resolved quickly then on another 20 miles and yes it was yours truly myself touched an other riders rear wheel and the black stuff wasn't getting any softer glad ive got plenty of in built padding . Well going on only another 300 mtrs and Steven Leckie and another rider were face down in the, yes the road . Carried on and it was good to say that was the last of the mishaps we got on with the hunner . With a stop at the top of the rest then on to Strucher where some of us stopped for the usual deer tea then on to the ferry and back to the Erskine hospital for tiffin . And the usual tales of wo and Simons BBQ PS A big thanks to Kenny Alan for the wheel back on to the bunch much appreciated .
