  1. Sorry Dougie , Iain had said you were there doing a sterling job (Dougie , Iain said you did really well at the pie eating competition ) but I say One out of approx 50 members looks really good . I had heard it was a tremendous day overall . when people join clubs Etc there's sometimes that you've got to give rather than take that's what gets me about the hole thing . Its the same when there are club events all you see on the bunch is who's time keeping or do we have a time keeper again NO COMMITTMENT ALL MA TACKS AND NO MA GEES . ????????? Really rips ma knittin

    Dooleys

I was in Dooley's Friday afternoon and had asked how the mountain bike event had went a good turn out by participants , and well here it is only to find out there wasn't one Johnstone wheeler turned up to help Iain Dooley . Dooley's cycles is a long time sponsor of this club he's there every year when other sponsors come and go , we all get a discount on bike's and parts so when push come shove is it not right that we give something back , this after all was a premier mountain event in Renfrewshire it would have been a good gesture if the biggest club in the area could have helped out this club can't do with out its sponsors . Its not as if we all turned up to ride the audax event . By the way I was down south on a course and had conveyed my apologies to Iain before the event note There was only two of us to do so . We all want to ride the bike but when it comes down to doing a bit of work we all vanish I'm afraid there are sometimes we've got to stand up and be counted collectively .
  3. Your right in fact both of you are right but the confession is I start when i get there no tea breaks /dinner breaks and go home when i like ((some would say school hours but they have all these breaks)) but unlike the school teacher and the paper pusher Ive got to go out in all weathers as no ones giving it away and yes before you say anything I'm having the day off no money again . Anything good in the skip???
  4. See I told you the only two to complain a paper pusher and a school teacher and just look at the times they posted there replies yes in company time keep telling you Kenny S the only way to beat me is with a big stick . Cheers Bob
  5. Good to see you surface again Dougie the bunch needs some of your patter too many of these school teachers and paper pushers that don't know what a laugh is or a days work . The bunch needs more manual workers with a good sense of humor and plenty of patter .
  6. Fred Whitton Results Posted On there web site Very well done to all excellent effort Darryl 8.01 hrs Mark 8.01 hrs Chung 8.09 hrs Arvid 8.19 hrs David Mc Kellar 8.19 hrs Donald & Lesley 8.36 hrs Don't see any more Johnstone wheelers entries DNF DNS ?????
  7. Dennis you know where your next run is to don't scare the ostriches. There are many things that have come to legislation on the road traffic act that have never been acted on IE parking your vehicle in the wrong direction into on coming traffic reversing from a driveway onto a road the list go's on look at the bigger picture why do the government promote the use of bikes to work ,why do they currently have tax relief on bikes through the boost system just to take it all away in some cases the use of cycle paths through some built up areas is far quicker and safer to get you into and out of busy roads to routes with far less traffic on them is it that bad ( is that not what we do as a club) . Do you think for a moment that Scotland can sustain the loss of tourism revenue by stopping cyclists using the road network have you ever been up north in the summer cyclists every where and the government money that Sustrans get for building the cycle network through Britain that are mostly on roads . AND TO END THIS SOAP BOX . I've got a few pastime that have been stopped, changed people lost there jobs etc people have marched about this endless petitions about I've never put my name to any of them if this is what the voters are moaning at the Mp's about for votes they will do anything after Thursdays loss . All the pastimes I've lost have all been attributed to labour . T The old saying if its not broken don't fix it. Here endeth the lesson
  8. It says cyclists should use the facilities where possible and nothing else there are only a few routes in Scotland that are not on the road . Dennis the labour party are looking for a chief whip scare mongering top priority.
  9. We need another roundabout at the track .
  10. Jim I didn't know your washing machine had a saddle
  11. To all concerned as long as you don't have gears , mud guards , brakes , lights or anything that sticks out other than the rider you can ride it the rear drop outs at this level don't mean much , to make it easier bring with you a Frame Two wheels fixed type a Chain , Handle bars , Stem , Bottom bracket and Chain wheel 46 to 48 tooth on the back if you can pedal it bring it there your legs making sure all the component parts are assembled before turning up .
  12. I've got a bike bag if required Kenny would cardboard bike boxes be suitable I'm sure Ian Dooley could supply these with ease.

    Distance

Stevie your calculator (to save face) must have been in Km's ?
  19. Entries open from the 1st December just possible there could be a shorter route approx 40 miles . Still to be confirmed route proposed would be from Sheildeig and round the Bealach returning to Sheildeig in my eyes it would get rid of all those who have a interest in racing over the hill. what a waste of a day
  20. On Sunday the 10th I had the good fortune to meet the fellow rider who had the horrific accident on the decent of the bealach . He is still in the hospital having recently been moved to the wards from the spinal high dependency unit of the hospital . Having suffered a bad head injury and a severe back injury resulting in he is paralyzed from the waist down he has healed very quick considering his age and injuries due to his fitness on the bike . He is in very high spirits and is looking forward to getting home . I passed on the regards from all members of the Johnstone Wheelers and my self I shall send him a Johnstone Wheelers jersey with our compliments to replace the top he had cut off at the hospital. I hope to keep in touch with his family to hear of his progress. Cheers Robert

This has never been a race and is never likely to be one , everyone is a winner , this was only a few like minded people enjoying a day on the bike . Unlike some of the comments made on other sites about the bealach na ba sad people. Many thanks for all your cash.

I had a look on google earth to see if it was still there looks like a ploughed field now this was the Jimmy Mcginty training ground many a night was spent going round there with good coaching from Jimmy . Towards it end a few pot holes just to add a bit of variety during the sprints . but no kerbs no fence's
