Alan, to confuse things further.
Even though you find the 56 small your quite a rangy chap. Your all arms and legs for want of a better expression. I remember having a shot of your X bike which, I think, is a large Planet X Uncle John. Shoot me down if Im wrong.
Im 5'11 but found it too big both seat tube and top tube. I found the 56 Pre Cursa to be just about bang on. Its all subjective of course and down to personal preference.
Just saying.
I ended up with a 58 at the velodrome and I am a shortarse, long back short legs. Admittedly, I did need to drop the saddle down but felt ok on the top tube. Not sure if that really helps much.
I am not Rangy!

re port glasgow school roundabout: seem to have moved the second drain cover to the side of the road, but still facing wrong direction
fail!

that descent!

james,
how long do they have to make good a repair?
I would add the roundabout at the new school at Port glasgow, there is not a pot hole but two drains with slats running in the direction of the road, dangerous. The second one is also not placed at the edge of the road but on the cycling line almost a metre in from the edge. Bonkers

+1 for fill that hole

Anyone know about parking. I see the website says there is no spectator parking. A major international sports centre with no parking. Surely not. Then again.

How long do you think you will be there? I have to go to a beaver award (scouts that's is) for my younger son but could come along a bit later if you are still there.

Hoping to be there. If I can afford it.
Cyclocross has the highest cost/ride ratio of anything I've done.
Current projected costs are about £1.50 per kilometre including:
entry fees, fuel, gear breakages, cow bell replacement, Flandrian flag washing and artisan hipster beer purchase.
Last year I managed to ride 2.5 races and now I am looking at deep section carbon tubs and new lightweight brakes (that might actually work). This will increase costs to about a tenner per lap.
I must be completely insane.
See you in the mud.
Alan
PAH, THAT'S NOTHING!
At last weekends (shh, Triathlon) fellow racer avoided common approach of mtb and went for cross bike
Carbon trek, 60mm carbon tubs, carbon bars and stem, topped off with Ultegra Di2
Imagine stacking that

Billy,
whats this heart rate app nonsense?
Thomson and McLean will set up a boutique surgery and take your heart rate by the laying on of hands (healing, no less)
No need to thank me, fifty guineas should cover it.
Please form an orderly queue

ha, sorry, yip more tri nonsense
Craggy Island tri, swom from mainland to Kererra just south of Oban. Trying to put media reports of a 7 foot long Porbeagle shark attacking a fishermans foot just round the corner in Islay http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=islay%20%2B%20porbeagle&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.huffingtonpost.co.uk%2F2012%2F09%2F01%2Fshark-attacks-fisherman-in-islay-scotland_n_1848573.html&ei=b_9MUKefCuqh0QXTxIC4Cg&usg=AFQjCNFOg-yqeO-UZz-D744VQx4sbQrf9A&sig2=aaqnv6jm-y0UliE_QmvtbA
Anyway, no sharks but cold swim and very hilly mountain bike
Oh no, MTB as if Triathlon wasn't bad enough, it gets worse, do I need to resign as a wheeler?
then a daft run, untracked moorland up to 400foot mountain and back 8k.
finished 53rd out of... I have no idea but top half I think.

Stephen,
HI, how are you doing?
My son has a islabike Benin 24 which is what Kenny is selling I think. He is 10 and is getting a bit big for it although it should last till next year. I am not sure how tall he is but possibly slightly shorter than 140. Think you need something bigger. The benin is set up as a mountain/ cross/ general purpose bike with straight bars. If looking for a drop bar road bike then better with a luath islabike or dawes. 26inch wheels probably what you need. The islabikes are superb, hold thier value really well and loads of the jets have them almost without any problems. I have had three of them and would look to get another as the boys get older. They are more expensive but in this instance you get what you pay for.
just my tuppence worth
cheers

Billy,
I'm all for giving this a bash, hopefully getting it right at the outset this year. That said I've never taken a structured/scientific approach to any sort of training much of the technical jargon remains a total mystery to me most of the time. Additionally, I couldn't tell you what my max heart rate is and have no solid idea about zones, pyramid sets, thresholds etc.
If I'm going to do this I'd rather do it properly and not half a$$ed because I don't understand what's be asked of me. Any thoughts as to an induction or idiot's guide evening at the club rooms to educated the plebs prior to throwing ourselves head long into this.
I know I would get something out of this and probably others would too.
