  1. Its Christmas and I hope you all have a merry one :D

Time to be thinking about the steady winter miles - I'm sure it was uppermost on all your minds.

Anyway last year JIm B, Ian M, Darryl and I had a few runs leaving Bridge of Weir garage at 9.30am and going steady round the coast to Largs, then hard up the Heely, regroup and ride back in. Average about 18mph. It was excellent in the cold dry days last Christmas.

So all are welcome - I propose Saturday 28th as a first one. Anyone up for it?

just in case there is any confusion over the coast run proposed by Paul. We did it today, even though it actually says the 28th.

    Good run too :)

do you have any guidance for us on the sizing of the Kit?

i think you've got my order for : bibshorts size 3; s/s 3/4 zip top size 38" chest; Skin suit (not sure of size). Are they cut large or small Ken?

    cheers

  3. Highly enjoyable weekend leaving us all keen to do more of that sort of thing.

Hope someone managed to write down Martin's suggestions for future social events as they all sounded great to me, possibly due to the combination of being under the influence with the prospect of other beer-related social activities to come. :P:P

Let's make it an annual event eh?

    cheers

    Darryl :D

    P.S. great report Dougie

  4. For what it's worth, here is my view as to what we should do. :?

    1. We should try and stay as a bunch for the whole outing, with the proviso that Harry will meet us on the island. It's just more fun (and easier cycling) that way :D

    2. We should go for the 9.45am ferry to maximise our time on the island. :D

    3. How to get there? Car if you wish, but if, like me, you want to cycle to Ardrossan, then I suggest leaving a bit earlier than 8am. The reason for this is that the 'safer' route (alternative to the A737) may take longer than 1.5 hours (at tourist pace). But more importantly, after Sunday's run, we all know how important it is to leave enough time to mend a puncture or two or three or....:lol:

I therefore suggest that we make it 7.30 at the bird, just to be on the safe side.

    4. There are many ways to get to Ardrossan, but the route I favour is throught Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie and then on the B780 to Dalry where we go over the moor and drop down into the port.

This is pretty much what I will be doing on Saturday morning

    cheers

  5. Dougie, can we not ride to the ferry and ride round the island? Do we know what time the ferry runs, or is it just the two - 9.30 and 12.30?

My preference is to ride to Ardrossan and ride around the island.

    cheers

    Darryl
