I'll second that...er..oh... I already have . A Friday night would suit best due to other social stuff (Claire's not mine )
How about next Friday at Shimla Pinks in Johnstone or their place in Paisley?
Show of hands please if interested

Further to Kenny's note: SCU/BC race licences will only be posted once I've got confirmation that club fees have been paid.

That info would have been handy this morning as finding a plumber after my 6am burst pipe and flood was a bit difficult

I take it that the final entry on the draft is more in the spirit of 'What I'd like for Christmas' rather than what we're actually getting.
whats the matter? think it'll be too cold??
glasgow-dunoon (oldest road race in britain) is scheduled to be organised by the GRC with me as organiser. obviously, weekends are not a great time for me in terms of work, so I need to get an idea of how the squad programme will pan out before setting the date in stone - don't want to leave the rock n roll road club boys in the lurch......
having said that, i'm probably off on the 25th dec, so thats maybe not that bad an idea............

Reminds me of a workaholic professor I used to work with who, noting that he had a free space in his diary on 25th Dec. tried to call a departmental meeting
Seriously though , if that race materialises then I'll definitely have a go. Though January 1st would be a much better date

Agree
hostelling is great and cheap. I'm also a member. Mark and me had a great 4 days on Arran and Islay this August and definitely intend to do more next year. Nothing stopping other hostelling trips being planned if Arran stays with the tired and trusted DeRosa formula.

Mais oui Davide. But surely it was his Id protesting at the incipient logocentrism of western cycology or perhaps it really happened

In the middle of all the excitement generated by Kat's exploits at the Nationals ( ) a group of us slipped away for a couple of days on Arran. Everyone turned up at Ardrossan, most on race bikes with rucksacks, expecting a day of luggage- free cycling once over the water. However, things didn't work out quite like that as the ferry had broken down. With there being no guarantee that it would be fixed, we had no choice but to get to Arran the hard way
So, a squad of 11, complete with luggage, cycled up to Weyms bay and over to Bute. From there we got the ferry to the Cowal and then we got the ferry from Portavadie to Tarbert followed by a mad dash for the boat from Clonnaig over to Lochranza. All that was left was a wee hill called The Bogle and we were there
Despite the 100+ miles recorded on some cyclocomputors, all agreed it was an excellent days riding. There were some sore legs (heads ) the next day, but all managed another ride to end a great weekend.
Thanks to Mr DeRosa for organising the thing and Simon (David) Simpson for the photographic record
must do it again in the spring...
cheers
McG
Well-done to everyone

Hi Martin
as you know, I'm always keen to go out drinking, especially if it's in a good cause . So I'm keen to attend. However, even though the stayover plan sounds great, it would be quite tricky for me personally ( and others probably)because of the kids and will probably work out quite expensive for a family. I wonder if it might not put some people off who would otherwise want to come.
Any chance of finding somewhere that really is local? Those that wish to ride their bikes can always go out for a run beforehand, and the next day if they are fit
anyone else have a view on this?

Just back from holibags sans news. I'm gob-smacked. Two really amazing results. I can't say how happy and proud I am to be in the same club as two such champions. Great, excellent, world class, top stuff and loads of other superlatives

Although I didn't get tested 1st time round, I would be interested this time.
Incidentally, Mark has posted on the SCU website an invitation to get him/and others to come and give some talks on what people shopuld be doing in the off season if they want to race/improve.
What do folks think?
here's the message from the SCU site:
My suggestion is a Club night (or series) where I and/or others come along and as a group to show how to put an annual programme together. By the end of the night the intention being that a framework for your next season would be put together.
What do you think?

Sorry Guys, but I can't make it next Friday after all. Try another date, or if all fails let's make it early in the new year.
