I understand your point Brian, and of course, you want to get riders to sign up in advance. But equally, anyone who turns up on the day without pre-registering - through ignorance, sudden window of opportunity or tardyness - surely won't be told to ride on their own will they?

sorry to hear about your 'incapacity' - didn't realise you were still off the bike - hope you're able to get your leg over....the cross bar soon

As an infrequent user of the club rooms, I personally see no need for loads of showers. One would be quite sufficient surely?

Most folk get showered at home anyway. After a long ride - say a reliability - if folk are going back to the club rooms, then washing facilities will suffice until they can get home.

Fellow riders be warned that if you plan to sign on the line without any notice given to the Braveheart management this can cause problems!?

Why ????

 

Well if they have got selected bunches and "safe numbers" they can have some sort of control......

If people arrive on that day without prior notice then obviously this can cause problems to the size of squads.

So if you want to ride this please Let Andy Mckinlay know or Brian Smith.

Further to the above, I have a few more details. the trip will probably be in the first week of July for 7 days or so. We intend to stay in the vicinity of Lourdes so that we'll be within easy reach of the cols and the Tour.

Probably looking at flights from Edinburgh, change in London and on to Toulouse. From Toulouse via car (approx 150Km).

At the moment a few possibilities for accomodation are being investigated.

(a) A luxury Villa (for 8, 10, or more) that is 4miles from Lourdes at the head of a private valley. all mod cons , but it is not in town. Price is approx £150pp/pw

( Something closer to town (not sure yet)

A plan is being hatched to spend the 1st week in July in the Pyrenees. No details have been thrashed out yet, but the basic idea is to do it on the cheap. Cheap flights, rent a chalet and ride our bikes for a week.

I'll be calling a meeting at my house in Feb to thrash out details, but for now can anyone who is interested post here. At the moment there are 4 of us that are likely to be going , but a larger squad - as shown by all those foties Stevie wants a hand annotating - might be even more fun

Just had a call from Christian. He's in Amsterdam and unable to come to Scotland after all. They wouldn't accept his student card and wanted him to pay an extra few 100 euros

But he is well and sends his best wishes to everyone. Says he will meet up with those of us going to France next year

Anyone know Martin Keir's mobile no? Need to tell him not to go to the Airport this afternoon. If someone could ring him, that would be great.
