  1. If anyone wishes to attend this e-mail me for the details.
  2. I've some great photos from last year overlooking the Kyles of Bute that I will e-mail to Pete. As for the Hill Climb...well, as you know well Kenny, getting a good turn out for a hill climb can be difficult at the best of times, so it's in everyone's interests to try and maximise the field, particularly when doing so does not disadvantage anyone at all. Anyway, it is good to know that we're a club that does not take too rigid a view of these things and does try to ensure that its activities are there to serve members. pip pip McG
  3. 8 beds booked and paid for @ £11 each for: Darryl Scott Alan Y Ian M Dougie Martin Mulholland David McKellar Simon Simpson Warden says that it's unlikely they'll be full, so anyone that does decide to come along should be ok. cheers Darryl p.s. Simon and Martin have kindly offered to do the catering - see your pms for more details
  4. Sorry you can't make it Steve, but very glad the old Pannieria Team will be back in action So that's Darryl Scott Alan Y Ian M Dougie Martin Mulholland David McKellar Simon Simpson and a couple of other definitely maybes I'll book either tonight or tomorrow, but that shouldn't preclude anyone coming along on a last minute decision But just to be clear about this, it is NOT a trainig camp or a race, it's a social event for anyone that cares to come along. It has become a bit of a tradition over recent years and everyone always enjoys it. A great chance to get to know folk, talk about exploits on the bike and to hatch plans for the following year. All welcome Darryl
  5. Absolutely, the more the merrier. I'll book the beds on Sunday night. cheers Darryl
  6. Thanks for that Tony, I hadn't noticed. Perhaps the powers that be would be willing to put it back a couple of weeks or bring it forward. cheers Darryl
  7. Darryl Scott Alan Y Ian M Dougie Martin Mulholland David McKellar and counting
  8. Hi David glad to have you aboard the reason for the Youth Hostel is just for a change and to allow more to come along at a modest cost. The hostel at Lochranza is fine and the local hotel does food and beer, and there is another pub a short ride away! Plan is to ride to Ardrossan and then over to Lochranza - drop off any bags we have and then people have a choice as to what they wish to do. ie. a. no more cycling b. a half loof of the island c. a full loop of the island that way I thought we might cater for everyone Darryl
  9. Correction Darryl Scott Alan Y Ian M Dougie Martin Mulholland (A few more possibly maybes)
  10. So far we have Darryl Scott Alan Y Ian M Dougie (A few more possibly maybes) So, don't be shy...
  11. Hi everyone for those of you that have recently joined the club and also for those that haven't been before, I am in the process of arranging our annual trip to Arran. For the past few years a group have rode over to the ferry at Ardrossan (last year was an exception ) for a day of cycling and an evening of socialising, with a ride home the next day. This year we are going to stay in the youth hostel at Lochranza. The cost of this is about $12 (my pound key does not work!). So with ferry fares and some money for food and drink it shouldn't be too expensive. The trip is for the weekend of 1st/2nd october. All are welcome and folk can do as much or as little cycling as they please, so the distance shouldn't put folk off. Having said that, the mileage that the Sunday bunch is clocking up suggests that this won't be a problem. I intend to phone the Hostel this weekend, so all who wish to come please post here so that i can make sure there are enough beds available. cheers Darryl
  12. Hi Simon sorry I won't be able to ride this weekend, but fingers crossed for good weather and a healthy turn out. Can JWCC members keep their eyes 'peeled' and their ears open for Finn Ramones - over from Australia and stayingin the Westend (of Glasgow) - who may well join the ride and the club have a good one Darryl

  15. Hi, We just wanted to tell you about our independent hostel-hotel in Pitlochry, that is very popular with cyclists, both clubs and individuals. Perthshire, as you'll probably know, is a gorgeous part of the Highlands with loads of quiet winding roads and tracks through the hills and glens. We are located in the town centre, close to the train station, so as well as normal hostel-hotel facilities we can also offer you a "night life" of some sort - which can be in short supply in the Highlands. We run an easy-going hostel that is very popular with people aged 17-40 or so. As well as dorms (£12-£13.50pp) with usual all hostel facilities, including a self catering kitchen, we also have a number of twin and doubles (some en suite) (£20-£30pp) plus bicycle storage facilities. Please think about coming to stay with us - We promise you a great time in a beautiful part of the world. For further information, please check the website at http://www.scotlandstophostels.com/scot ... lochry.htm. The site also has links to photo albums and several of our other Highlands hostels that you might be interested in too. Or, please phone us direct at 01796 470044. Many thanks, Pitlochry Backpackers.
