  1. VC Astar are organising the WOSCA road race championship on Sunday 24th of July. As this is a WOSCA event they have requested that each club offers 2 marshalls / helpers. This is a requirement that we need to fulfill otherwise we may be looking at a suspension. Any volunteers before we need to start twisting arms? PS you need to be a SCUI member to be able to marshall. Alan
  2. Good News received final confirmation for the Chalet Bad News I've spoken to the holiday company, they have confirmed that we need to supply towels and bedding. I don't have an address for the Chalet but it is on the right hand side of the road half way between the roundabout (the only downhill section of the climb) and the final bend up to the finish line. We'll be there mid afternoon on the Saturday, if anybody needs directions, my mobile number is 0777 9712676 If I don't see you before, see you all in France. Alan

    Le Tour

We have Chalet for the week Saturday the 17th July, last time we got the keys mid afternoon and had to leave by about 9 the following week. We are flying out on the Friday to Geneva so should be in the Alpes from about 2ish on the Saturday and will pick up the keys as soon as possible. In preparation for France would there be any interest for a climbing club run around Lanarkshire. All welcome to enjoy quite Lanarkshire roads, probably head for Leadhills giving a 60+ mile run. Does the weekend of the 3rd or 4th of July appeal? Alan
  4. Clearly not an issue on the West coast as the Johnstone is the only club to join!! but could I ask the newer members of the club a few questions:- How did you find out about the club? Was the SCU any help in finding clubs in the area? What information would you have found helpfull coming into the sport? How easy is it to become involved in the sport? etc The reason I am asking this is for those that do not know I am on the board of the SCU responsible for communication and marketing, the biggest area of which must be attracting and new people to the sport. Any comments please, also any input from the more established members? Thanks Alan
  5. I just had my photo taken with Ja Ja! 8) Shazy PS Nicole was robed - They worked her over big time! :x
  6. and Patrick Lefevere! Anyway, todays races were good - the crowd was, how should I say it.... oh American! It was difficult to keep up with what was happening as they got slightly carried away with the dropped riders coming through the start/finish area! :? We also met Graeme Allan - our ex-Johnstone Wheeler now Toronto resident. Nice guy and is really looking forward to wearing the Johnstone jersey "with pride" (picture will follow). Have to go now - I am on the look out for a Welsh flag for tomorrow, but my search is going badly. I am sure Nicole won't mind being cheered by a couple of nutters with a Scottish flag instead! Watch out for us - we'll be out and about around the course and in the grandstand at the end. Shazy

    The view from Canada

Hi everyone What a day to be in Hamilton - a Scottish win - Woo H00. If you see the finish on TV - I'm the nutter waving the Scottish flag at the finish line! We walked the RR circuit yesterday - my legs are still sore.. the TV doesn't do this course justice at all, I don't fancy going up and down these roads once on a bike never mind 21 times (42 times over the escarpment!) Spotted the Devil here today - he's so famous he made canadian TV news  Anywho - Millar was really on form, great feeling being here and witnessing the event, Hamilton gave him a huge cheer, especially as all of the days commentary said "Scottish rider..." Cheers from Canada  Shazy PS Do you lot know what happened to Igor - TV here didn't cover it too well? PPS sat next to B. Riis today, also shared a lift with the TDF chief Commisaire and the Itilian team are next door!
  8. Dear All, Hot and sunny weather here in Hamilton - Managed to get burnt yesterday! Yesterdays events were good, it took a few attempts by the organisers to get the screens and stuff to work - and you won't dare try to sit in the wrong seat or the Canadian Volunteers will get very upset!! The're taking it a tad too seriously! The junior women were impressive and the German girl was walking around in a daze for most of the afternoon. The boy Junior event about to start, so it's off to take our sets in the grandstand. then it's the ladies TT. No gossip yet from the pro-peleton, but we'll keep listening. Have a nice day Shazy K JWCC unofficial UCI world Champs reporter!
