  1. Davie is fondly remembered by many in the club young and old. I cannot manage to ride one of his favourite runs each anniversarry any more but still manage to pedal a few miles in his memory. Recall a few of his stories and smile at the good times we shared on the road.

  2. From Braveheart site :- Ernie Woodcock (Ex Johnstone Wheelers and SVTTA)has sadly passed away whilst out on his bike over in Ulsan, South Korea.

Ernie was a valued member of the club for many years . He rode time trials and despite working offshore most of his working life contributed to clubrooms ,committee , clubruns and social side of club. He was a true gent who never spoke badly of anyone , always playing a calming level headed approach to solve problems . He moved abroad with his work and this led to him being away for long spells . This led to him being active in club affairs only through the medium of the web. Never the less he always kept an interest on what was happening . He kept his passion for cycling going where ever he was in the world and died whilst out cycling . He will be sadly missed by myself and many more ex and club members who he came in touch with through his love of cycling

  3. Is North Uist far enough?

Working on a plan to move to a smaller school each 3 years 1200 pupils reduced to 600 pupils now 300 pupils , untill I reach retirement age when I will be working 1 to 1 . Either that or keep moving West , next stop Canada

New school has a superb grass pitch and an airport nearby , apart from that there is nothing much on island apart from sheep superb beaches and great fishing LOL

  4. Really shocked to here of death of Tom Yesterday during a Falkirk club run. Tom was a former club member along with ex wife Zoe. A real old school hard man rider who was always in mix whilst competing in road races. His brother was also a member for a few years , thoughts go out to wife Katie and the girls at this distressing time.

  5. Results

    Greig & Elaine 21:32 15:42 5:50

    Kay & Mary 22:05 13:24 8:41

    Billy & Al 18:31 6:39 11:52

    Charlie & Ian 18:32 6:28 12:04

    Ross & Iain 17:51 5:43 12:08

    David & campbell 17:16 4:53 12:23

congrats to the winners , by now people will have worked out that its best to have either a fast rider teamed with a high handicap rider or two high handicap riders who ride to a PB as in Greig and Elaines case. Two riders of similar ability need to be posting Pbs to get even close .

  6. Hi guys

I have been watching thread and am in the process of calculating the winners on handicap as laid down in SC rules. The procedure is to use handicaps based on a 20 minute 10. The tables give a handicap which isnt a straight time difference . I then divide the riders handicap to get an equivalent for 7.5 miles ( near enough , I know its not exactly that distance)

The 2 riders times are then taken together , deducted off finishing time to calculate fastest teams on handicap.

I will have a final result by lunchtime today and post this up.

Sorry for delay in doing this was on a course in Inverness most of week.

ps tables only go up to 29.59 so riders who are slower than this get 3/4 of the difference in time added to max handicap which is 8.20

riders who dont have a 10 time get an allowance of 4.51 for their first 3 10s

so there you go as easy that , hence reason I have done it for donkeys years LOL

  7. It appears that he can only gain time on TTs, the rest of the time he tends to just be on the defensive

its worked in past for quite a few winners , but think its all about the mountains

  8. Hi Russell & Ali hope you get a squad for Vigo . Maybe try and get down for a game sometime in summer if possible.I keep up with all the electronic polo gossip online . We havent played yet this season as its been raining since last September ( up untill last week we only had 5 days when it didnt rain at some time) grass is ultra sodden. Was in Londonshire last week and wished I had taken a tanker of water down to sell LOL hosepipe bans and droughts everywhere.

  9. Message recd today

Let me know if interested and I will get full contact details :-

I'm writing to ask if it could be possible for a few members of your polo

section to put on a demonstration at Chatelherault Country Park, near

    Hamilton, on 3rd June?

For the 3rd year running, CTC Glasgow (also involving the Park Ranger

Service, Go Bike, SLC, a vintage bike club, Royal Albert and Clydesdale

Colts (Go-ride) will be putting on a 'Big Bike Day', and we are looking for

some 'educational displays'. This event is a good way of getting kids and

    families into cycling.

there will also be a range of bike rides, on and off road, orienteering

etc. The on road rides will include 60 mile and 45 rides.

Bike polo is something that is not usually seen by the general public, and

you may like to take this opportunity to address that. I think it would add

significantly to the day, if it can be arranged.

  10. Well done Alan & Duncan

conditions were favourable this year ,last year we had a couple of broken bones due to severe ice.

Great carnival event very well organised , we had two teams again this year 7th and 30th.

You have to be mental to ride this event so it will suit you fine Paul LOL

We have had solo , double and quad teams in past couple of years but I have managed to avoid taking part so far , will try and get over to it next year if JWCC send up a squad.
