Lesley Scally
All, Hoping that the weather will still be nice over the weekend so thought we could squeeze in another nice run while we still can. Leaving clubrooms 9.30 am, over the Erskine Bridge, by Loch Lomond, Arrochar, up the Rest and Be Thankful, down other side, St Catherines, Strachur, Loch Eck (optional cafe stop at Strachur or petrol station just outside Sandbank), then home via Western Ferry from Hunters Quay - think it is about 85 miles round trip! Single Ferry ticket is about £3.30. See you at the clubrooms. Cheers, Lesley
Lesley Scally
Meant to say, this is not a particularly hilly route - only real hill is the Rest and Be Thankful
Dennis
Only one real hill, huh? See you at the clubrooms. Dennis
Lesley Scally
Well we didn't quite make it to the Rest today despite it being a lovely day. Varying commitments and time constraints meant we opted for a shorter run but still headed in the direction of the Erskine Bridge for starters. Myself, Dennis, Campbell, Jim, David (just back on the bike after recovering from a knee injury - good to see you back David!) and Al made our way over the Bridge and out towards Helensburgh. What a beautiful day, the water was so still at Helensburgh but unfortunatley we did get a small shower just as we entered the town. After a brief stop to decide where we went from here, we opted to go up Sinclair street and then by Duck Bay, enjoying the delights of the Cafe in Balloch before heading back via Bonhill, Dumbarton and back over the Bridge to the clubrooms. Nice day although a bit on the chilly side at times - around 55 miles - a bit shorter than originally planned, but hey was still a great day oot!!
