  2. Hello Ewan,

Welcome along. You will enjoy the runs and the 30 milers are a really good bunch to go out with.

Billy mentioned Ribble and I must say I have been really impressed with mine, buying from Ribble will let you pick your finishing kit. I would say go for the best frame you can get for cash, you will have to replace parts due to wear and tear so if it's going well and you're enjoying the cycling you can upgrade the finishing kit when it's required.

Don't be put off by the shimano/ campag/ SRAM statements. It's all really your own preference. I have shimano on my bikes and haven't been let down(Ritchie Cross cant even bring himself to say shimano though  )

Also for pedals never discount eBay

£30 for brand new shimano 105 pedals(delivered). I've bought a couple of sets and cleats and they are an eBay shop and really good to deal with.

Anyway I've prattled on enough, happy bike shopping and hope to see you out soon Oh ya dancer !

  3. Hello everyone,

as Richie said there was a story for my absence. I was waiting on the North side of the bridge till just after 10, when no one appeared i thought I would head on to the A82 incase everyone was waiting there. I waited there till about 25 past 10 and then just headed on solo.

The plan was to head for the North gate of Faslane and come back the Hall Road or Glen Fruin due to time constraints. Between the headwind and hangover  I was struggling this morning so when i got to Sinclair Street soaked through I decided to head up the hill and head back through Balloch and home.

I was joined on Sinclair Street by Mr Cross and we had a decent run back over the road Hello, beer !!Hello, beer !! . Only 47 miles for me today but with winds on the open road from Dumbarton to Helensburgh it felt like double that.

Anyhow, glad everyone had a nice run today and from now on if I am meeting at the bridge I will make sure I know exactly where to go Stoooopid!

  4. Hello Folks,

Hoping to be out for this tomo, bit like Boyd and Matt I am short of time for the full route but if we are heading along the A814 I may branch off at Faslane and either head over the Hall Road or Glen Fruin if that suits anyone else short of time ?

What time would you guys be hitting the bridge in the morning, I may just meet you there.

  5. Thanks to all for yesterday's ride, had to peel off as I was worried how long my temp repair to the side wall would last. On that note thanks to Chung for having a piece of tire in his tool kit that I could use to patch it Hello, beer !!

58 miles on the clock for me when I got home so wasn't too bad after all.

Hopefully back out in a couple of weeks Oh ya dancer !

    John

    John,

Are you cycling down, myself and Ross will be heading down from Renfrew and going through Bishopton if you are.

Chung, what time do you reckon you'll be at the roundabout at base of Clune, just so I can work out times for leaving Renfrew ???

Ross, meet you at gates to dump. Will try and work out time tonight so we meet at the bottom of the Clune.

  8. Hello folks,

I like the sound of this and given the fact that I would like to try the Dalmally run next week so the more miles the better for me, but happy to go with the majority.

Chung when you say the reverse of the chain gang route, I have never done this but will you all come out at the bottom of the Clune Brae and join the A8. If so anyone from the Renfrew area want to meet and head down through Bishopton and meet the bunch in Port Glasgow ???

    Jody

  9. Jody, I'm sure the pace will be sensible.

I certainly won't be leaving anyone behind,

    It's a marine thing.

N.B. I was never in the marines, I just like using quotes

    From films and tv shows.

    Anyhoo, hasta la vista baby.

Think I'll give this a go Oh ya dancer !

  10. Hey all,

Don't think I'm going to make it tomo as work has been hectic so not sure what time I'll must away. If I'm not there for 0915 then don't wait.

Have a good one everyone and enjoy the sun.

    Jody
