Sorry in London with my youngest that weekend, his football team has won a trip to the David Beckham acadamy, so no chance of being able to miss it.
Otherwise would really have enjoyed giving it a go.

Below is a copy of an e-mail i received about this years ride
Dear All,As promised when you entered the inaugural edition of the Southern Uplands Sportive last year, I am giving you a wee heads up[ ahead of everybody else about the launch of this year's event.
The ride has been re-named for the 2nd edition so the 2009 RADAR RIDE (see what I've done there??) will take place on Sunday 12th July. It will start, as last year, in Wanlockhead and take in all your favourite climbs - including the hideous 20% slopes of the now-infamous 'Wall of Talla'. But this year it will finish across the ridge at the summit of Green Lowther. For those of you who managed to finish last year's event, when you get to the inflatable arch alongside the radar station itself, this year's event won't be finished! It will turn left for another mile and around 30m of climbing. If you thought last year's finishing stretch was a bit sadistic then this time around you'd best put as much time into your mental preparation as you do for the physical!
Anyway, the event will officially be launched on Thursday 16th April.
BUT, for you guys, the web-site and entry system will be opened on Monday 13th April which gives you a few days head start. If anyone who entered last year happens, for whatever reason, to miss the launch and fails to get one of the 350 places available, just drop me an email at this address and I'll get you in.
I look forward to seing you all again in Wanlockhead in July. The highest point on Scotland's highest road awaits!
Regards,
Peter.[/quote]
I am going to enter again this year, anyone else?

As Tony says I had a go in the Southern Upland Sportif last year. I really enjoyed the event.
I found it to be well organised, with the only downsides being the bottleneck of people at the signing on and i could really have done with an additional feed station, still maybe i should just train more.
I am definately hoping to have a go again this year if this is any sort of recommendation and given that its only about an 1hr 30min drive its not a bad option.
I am also looking to take part in another couple this year so will keep an eye on topic

A firend of mine has 2 x full bikes for sale, a Lemond Maillot jaune and a terry Dolan. Both bikes are probably late 90's, however i doubt either has ever turned a wheel in anger. The Dolan still has packing on it.
The Lemond has the gear changers on the down tube, not sure about the Dolan. I dont think he has any particular price in mind. I do have some photos of both.
If anyone wants some further info or photos let me know and i will attempt to oblige
