  1. I would be happy to take and display photos from whatever events are chosen by the club members. They can be current or historic, social, or club , national, world or olympic championships - its completely upto the club. Pete
  2. All, This subject was discussed at the Committee meeting last Friday and I would like to find out how people feel about it. With the increasing use of digital photography, lots of great photos have been taken at this years events and I would like to see them properly displayed in the Clubhouse(apologies to those who were offended by my "rubbish" remark!). The questions are:- a) would you like to see them displayed? and how do we get them? Where members have them privately, I would be quite happy tp print and mount them if you email them to me - but some of the best have been taken professionally and I need to know whether you would be happy to pay for your display (I am not too happy with mine at Millport TT as my belly seems to resting on the cross bar!) Can I have your ideas on which way, if any, you want to go? Thanks, Pete
  3. All, What is the latest info on K and K's results - I want to include details in the Lottery Grant application. Pete
  4. I'll be there and I'll bring the start sheet. Pete
  5. Steve, Like with many things this season, I suspect that you would go much too fast for me(both in the racing and the drinking!) and anyway I will be away in the Pyrenees - have a great time! Pete
  6. I'm a "maybe" also, although I will be there, and (although I am ashamed to admit it) as I have NEVER been a timekeeper, I would like to assist. I will bring along some printed Race sheets and a clipboard. Pete
  7. All, I am currently submitting a request for lottery funding through the Awards for All Scotland scheme. At the moment we are working on getting new Cyclo simulators, and any parts for the Training bikes that we cannot muster our selves. If there is any other equipment that you would like me to include eg. circuit training equipment, then let me know what you want and I'll get something organised. Speak now or forever hold your peace! Thanks, Pete
  8. Simon, I'm actually down to ride the Hugh Robb 50 TT on the Sunday, but have heard rumours that it may be cancelled due to roadworks. If this is the case, then I will ride the Hunna. Pete
  9. simon, Just bring it all along and we'll sort out what we have got too much off later. There must be 56 ish riders who have not contributed so far - please can you have a look and see if you have anything that you just know that you will never use again, but you are hanging onto just to annoy the wife! Thanks, Pete
  10. All, Can everybody have a look at what is going on in the Beginners Section - as a development plan, we are hoping to build 2 or 3 bikes that can be used for training newcomers without them going to all the expense of buying a bike which they may either never use again or change for something better as soon as they get into things. We are looking for all those bits and pieces that you know you will never use again and are cluttering up the garage, lounge, kitchen etc. We are hoping that our sponsor, Ian Dooley will also help out, and the balance of the gear can go towards the Erskine Hospital charity auction/jumble sale. Please can you post onto the web with what you have got - that includes clothing (clean but servicable) and shoes etc. Thanks, Pete
  11. Guys, Sounds like you had a fantastic time and did a lot more than I would have done in one holiday. I have done the Col de Spandelles, but from the other side - I'm not quite sure which side is steepest, but who cares, all the cycling is fantastic. If you decide to go again I can give you a few more, testing, but picturesque (everything looks good through that rose tinted mist!) rides on some of the quieter roads. Did you get to go to any of the cafe's on Souloir and Tormalet? Anyway, there is always the other side of the Aubisque, where you can stay at Laruns and pick up the Marie Blanque ie. the way the Etape went. Look forward to seeing the photies - it will set me up for my 3 weeks in September staying a bit further east this time near the Col D'aspin and Plateau de Bielle. Cheers, Pete
  12. Sorry guys, but much though I would have liked to have done a PB last wed, the outrun was too hard, and I ended up 32 seconds off the weeks before time. Pete ps, the star of the night was Doc Stephen
  13. Guys, Why not wait for Darryl and mark to get back and see what they have to say about the Pyrenees - it might be the better option - Marie Blanque, Souloir, Hautacam, Ardiden and Aubisque all within 20 miles of Argeles Pete
  14. ps. does being a British Cycling member, qualify you to marshal in a SCUI race? and last, but not least I suspect, there are only a few "racers" out of the 60 ish members in the club that benefit from a BC/SCU racing licence, so we really can't expect other non-racers to cover for us when this sort of situation crops up. It looks like Sharon, Paul and Darryl are off the hook this time, so lets see who else regularly participates and then go from there. Pete
  15. Like Claire, can anyone give us a bit more info - when, where, how long etc? Pete
  16. anyone out there, the painting is going well and the paint is water thinnable. If you want to do some then thin the paint down by at least as much again - this allows easy coverage and lets you get the paint well into the pebble dash. The bits that are left are:- 1) the back bits of the porch and side (this is a second priority 2) all of the front - yes even the bits that we have done before - so that it looks even. There is a short ladder in the club house (which should be enough, and a long pair of ladders in the storage unit - keys are in the club room. Let me know if you do anything. Pete
  17. We have the paint and the shower unit - I will leave them in the club rooms tonight on the way home. Work to be done :- 1) Silver Hammerite the non galvanised bits of the fence 2) Paint the exterior bits that haven't already been done and are in general view - I have managed to get some grey paint that shouldn't be too far away from the existing colour. I will be down Sat. pm, but if anybody else wants to get stuck in in the meantime then fine - just remember to clean the brushes properly!!!!! Thanks, Pete
  18. Guys, I would hope to have the paint by Friday evening, so I am quite happy for individuals to work in their own time as long as they have access to the club rooms and, of course, clean their brushes etc after. I will supply ladders, wire brushes etc. Pete
  19. All, You will be aware that we are entertaining visitors from france for the polo - we would like to get the clubhouse looking a bit smarter and propose a workparty to paint the exterior (again!)and some of the fencing on saturday pm between 2.00pm and 4.00pm (weather willing) I know that the racers will be at the APR, but all help would be appreciated (as would the paint brushes, wherever they are!) Please can you let me know if you can make it. thanks, Property pete
  20. Kelly, Brilliant news - I might even be able to score another victory if I could persuade you to ride a "10" in August! 21. Stevie, How have you sorted the towels? The maintenance guy at work is providing me with loads, but we can always keep them as standby. See you later - I will be there from 5.30 'till 7.30 Pete ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  22. Kenny, Most people bring their own towel for general washing, but I will see if I can get some papers towels from work, or alternatively supply a couple of actual hand towels that should be sufficient for people just washing their hands. I will be down tonight after work to get on with the emulsion and carpets. 23. Kenny, I'll be there for the exterior cleaning /painting. As far as inside is concerned, all there is to do now is to paint the walls in the Ladies and lay the carpets - then its just a matter of tidying up and we can finish the rest later. Cheers, pete ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24. All, Only 2 weeks to go until the Don Smith and so much to do! There are some things which are being left to the professionals ie. 1) the electrics for the showers and hand driers 2) the dividing wall between the shower cubicles 3) the shower tiling but there are some other jobs which can be done by whoever - I will be down on Tues night, but I will not be around this weekend. The jobs are:- 1) emulsion the Ladies and Gents toilets - the paint is in the Kitchen in the rectangular tub (don't use the Magnolia as it has been watered down too much!) 2) paint the exterior front door, inner face of inner porch door (club room side) and inner faces of Ladies and Gents hanging Room rooms (club room side) in blue (and the Kitchen and Storeroom if you really get into it!) - paint in the Kitchen 3) paint the interior faces of the above doors white. I have aquired new (2nd hand ) carpets for both Changing Rooms/Toilets and will lay them probably on the Sat. before the D S. Martin is doing the tiling in the Kitchen today, so we could paper the walls and get them emulsioned if we have time. The bad news is that the Chiropractor treament is paying off and I will soon be back in training - so my available time for renovation will be retricted as i try and catch up with the rest of you on the lost fitness!! The Club needs your help to make it look good before the DS - please help. 25. Dougie, I'm not quite sure who you mean by "wee baldie" but I understand from Kenny that the roof work has been completed - by whom I know not!
