Not going to make the years premier event for the 1st time in many years!!!
I'm off to Girona on a pre reconnaissance trip before Darryl and I head out in March, only I won't have a bike with me as its a 'tourist' trip with my good lady.
have fun

Just to mention that Darryl and I are booked up for a 5 day stint in Girona from Thus 2nd March to Monday 6th March. We have not arranged accommodation yet in case anyone else is interested.
Details are ;
Ryanair flight at 2pm Thursday depart Prestwick
Depart Girona 6pm Monday
Flight cost including the £17 each way for bikes is £90.
3 full days cycling Fri, Sat, Sun and a 3-4 hour finisher on Monday morning!
Teaming up with a group from Lanark Multisport (whom I understand are a mixed group in terms of fitness) and in conjunction with Steven Macgregor in Girona.
Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers

Many of you have seen my lights at Glengarnock. They are Smart Dual Halogen and cost £30. I'm on my 3rd set in 13 years because they are so good and excellent value for money. Reason I'm on 3rd set is they can only be recharged 200 times. The 10w light lasts 2 hours and 2.5 w lasts a lot more. With the 10w you can ride in pitch black and comfortably see pot holes etc. on single track country roads.
With respect to general safety I believe the best thing you can get is a high vis reflective vest as worn by guys working on the motorway at night etc.

Well my deep dark secret is out, I am a closet ABBA fan ( well they are the greatest band of the 20th century ), however I am at a 25th on the night in question so I won't get to put my white jump suit on..............

Superb organisation by Darryl
Superb food by Simon and Martin
Superb company in Alan, Scott and Kenny
and a truly astonishing performance from Simon in riding from Glasgow to Lochranza with an unfeasibly heavy load on his bike then riding round the island in the afternoon - no he didn't actually ride over the water from Ardrossan to Brodick.
Great fun all round...........Alan topping at over 53mph down the string, Kenny doing an excellent ride up the string to make the 11.05 ferry, Scott saying to me as the gradient eased from 10% to 5% in a 30mph headwind "its ok, its flatter now", my reply cannot be posted on a public forum ..... and many more.

Excellent day today once out of the freezing fog
Just the ticket before the Anniesland bunch starts - some motor paced training along the coast road, you can guess who the motor was
