Cooke takes early win
Cooke surged to victory in the last 100m
Baden Cooke, the points classification winner in last year's Tour de France, won the Grand Prix d'Ouverture from Gardanne to Aubagne on Tuesday.
The Australian overtook FDJeux.com team-mate "Fabien Sanchez", who had staged a solo breakaway, just before the finish of the 150km event.
He won the race, which marks the start of the European cycling season in three hours 38 minutes and 30 seconds.
Belgian Jo Plackaert was second with Italy's Fabio Baldato third.
Cooke will now compete in the Etoile de Besseges stage race that starts from Marseille on Wednesday.

Hi folks just let all you fellow pedal pushers know that my cousin
NEILS BLOM has joined the bunch under the name of the blom boy.
He is currently riding with the 2nd best racing team in holland but he only is 15yrs old - a junior.

my aunt works for the glynhill hotel and she has superior authority in some capacity (in other words i dont have clue if she is a manager or higher?)
she has done favours for people before such as organise night out and offer them calorie burning facilities.
ill check with her and get back to you on that!
p.s. kenny wee mark whitehead was going to drop that frame of at your bit tonight.
i asked him if he could bring it down to the clubrooms for 7ish?

GENERAL IDEA'S
I SPOKE WITH PETE BENNEL A FEW WEEKS AGO AND HE HAD A GOOD IDEA:
CAN WE PUT ON THE WEBSITE AN ADVERTISEMENT THAT WE CAN HELP AND GIVE ADVISE TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE PURCHASING NEW BIKES?
I.E. FRAME SIZE AND HOW MUCH THEY SHOULD PAY?
I REMEMBER JOINING THE CLUB , I BOUGHT A NEW ROAD BIKE BUT I DONT THINK I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT FOR THE PRICE I PAID THEN.
THE REASON WHY:
THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE PICKED UP OVER THE LAST YEAR HAS BEEN SUPERB. ONLY IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT THEN OR SOME1 COULD HAVE GIVEN ADVISE??
JUST HELP ON PARTS AND DIFFERENT GROUPSETS ETC?
COULD WE ADVERTISE THAT WE CAN GIVE ADIVSE ON BIKE MECHANICS? OR JUST GENERAL INFORMATION ON HOW TO KEEP YOU' R BIKE CLEAN , HOW TO CHANGE A TYRE/INNER TUBE , CHAIN , CABLE'S , SET BRAKES ETC ETC ETC ........IT GOES ON.
THESE ARE ALL BASIC SKILS YOU WOULD NEED TO KNOW IF YOUR OUT AND MANY MILES FROM HOME.
BEGINNERS COULD GO TO CLUBROOMS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT??? EXPERIENCED MEMBERS COULD GIVE GENERAL ADVISE LIKE :
WHAT TOOLS TO BRING WITH YOU
YOUR BASIC FOOD AND DRINK INTAKE ETC ETC.
DARRYL ALSO HAD ANOTHER GREAT IDEA:
HE POINTED OUT THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A "DEBATE" SECTION ON THE BUNCH THAT ONLY MEMBERS CAN SEE.
I KNOW THAT THE CLUB WILL REQUIRE HELP AND I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP OUT IN ANYWAY I CAN TO BRING NEW MEMBERS TO THE CLUB OR JUST HELPING OUT IN GENERAL.
THESE IDEAS MIGHT NOT BE ANY USE BUT HEY I TRIED :wink:
SOME OF YOU MIGHT HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW ?

good point big man , i think the best way to do it is get all the riders who are flying together at some point and discuss what they want to do.
or all riders who are flying put the names doon on this site plus tel numbers so we can get this sorted out.
im happy to book my flights this friday night after my work - some others might not be able to as the time of year.
its best if we can find out how many riders are flying as we could get a discount from the airline if we all go on same flight - does this make sense?
to stay a night in hotel on the friday could be costly as tour is passing by plus
its DUTCH MOUNTAIN IN IT so plenty of orange geeks kicking about the joint.....
some of us was talking about people carriers etc too from lyon airport.
god knows but plenty to talk about and get this right as i dont want to be left at glasga.

As many of you probably know Paul mcskimming has started a new job in Dooleys shop as a bike "mechanic".
I would like to wish him all the best and hope he does well.
