  1. 2011 Allez for sale, in very good condition. Needs a good wash and I'm sure it can then probably be described as excellent condition! Bar tape will be needing replaced, and I will include 3 Shimano chains and a spare cassette, possibly 2 cassettes, though I'm not sure where the 2nd one is

2300 double groupset with recently replaced rear mech.

    Frame is a 56, probably suitably for someone 5ft 9 - 6ft ish.

Will also include Shimano pedals, some tools, spare tubes, spare brake pads, so perfect for a first road bike.

    Full details here - http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bikes/archive/2011/allez/allezallezx2

    Looking for £300.00 collected.

  2. Got a bunch of parts from my written-off 2010 Roubaix Expert (Tom H's old bike)

Ultegra 6700 brake callipers £50.00 the pair

Ultegra 6700 front and rear mechs, £40.00 the pair

Ultegra 6700 shifters, £100.00 the pair

    Ultegra 6700 chainset, £60.00

Mechs are a bit banged up, hence the low selling price. AFAIK they're in good working order.

Also have the bars, stem, seat post and saddle. Not sure if these are worth anything to anyone, but no reasonable offer refused.

Spec for finishing kit can be found here:

Will get pics up if any interest.

    Cheers,

    Stuart

  3. I hope to be out on a ride again soon, though I fear that my current bike, a 2011 Allez Double with 2300 groupset, will contribute muchly to an early abandonment*

*obviously ill blame the bike and not the weight gain from the 2 for a quid big dairy milks that you get in Farmfoods

  4. My bike is in a minor state if ill-repair. Gears, brakes, possibly cassette and / or inner chainring all in need of attention. Chain has been jumping like crazy this week. I've been fiddling around with the brakes and gears cables all night but can't get them anywhere near right. Seems like cable tension has totally gone, so new cables needed. I have fitted a new chain, have a new cassette that I'l fit over the weekend (didn't have a big enough spanner / wrench) - those jobs seem easy enough.

Can't really afford a service - (last one cost me £100 for new cables / bar tape!) - so looking for a kind soul in the Paisley area who could take a look and help me sort out gears and brakes. Case of beer on offer.

    Thanks,

    Stuart

  5. Sorry for the slow response, I've been struck down with man-flu this week.

    Kenny, it's a medium frame:

Seat tube is 50cm (bottom bracket to top of seat clamp)

    Top tube is 52cm.

The clothing I'll throw in comprises the following:

1 * Crane soft shell jacket - white with red / black trim

1 * Crivit padded cycling shorts

    1 * 3/4 length Crivit padded shorts

2 * LS black base layer jerseys (similar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Take-Five-Mens- ... 3efa2865cd)

1 * set cheapo blue arm warmers

    1 * Crane hi-viz Paclite jacket

Probably cost me £50 and never been worn, so a nice little starter kit for a beginner. I also might throw in a jersey if I have a spare.

Still looking for £180 all in.

  6. I've got a red Carrera Virtuoso for sale.

Frame is in pretty good condition, some wear on the chain stay, and some other expected chips / scratches as you would expect from a bike of this age. I believe this model is 3-4 years old.

All that's left of the original bike if pretty much just the frame:

Fork has been upgraded to a Fenix carbon fork

    Seatpost upgraded to carbon

Wheels have been upgraded / replaced

    Shimano 105 rear derailleur

    Shifters are 8-speed Sora-style

    Tioga stem

Bile was serviced last month, all gear and brake cabling replaced, new bar tape fitted. The wheels probably need trued.

I'm no expert on parts, but the upgrades are all pretty much entry-level components rather than massive improvements on form. Weight is around 10KG, and the bike is probably suitable for someone around 5ft 6 and above.

Picture attached. The bike needs a good clean to bring it back up the the photographed standard - I'll try get it cleaned up before selling. Pedals not included.

    Looking for £200.

  7. Thanks for having me along today.

Hope I didn't slow the bunch down too much. Felt OK most of the time, though struggled a bit with what seemed like hill after hill on the way out. My usual 'climbs' are Barshaw Park and Hope Street on the way to work, so guess that was to be expected!

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome.

    Cheers.

  8. Last time I ordered something of value from overseas I also got hit with a processing fee from Parcelforce. Think they charge you as they pay the VAT to Customs, which apparently speeds up the whole process. Think it was around £15.

I'm sure they phoned me and I had to pay over the phone before they would release it.

  9. Can someone please give me a synopsis of how this run went? Is most of it spent riding together? Does it split into smaller groups? Do you ride as hard as you can until you reach the designated re-grouping points?

I've been reading around some older posts and can't work out if it's a group ride or more a race (in the loosest sense of the word).

  10. Thanks for the info Billy - the chain gang does sound a little beyond my capabilities at the moment! I'm comfortable holding 20mph cycling solo, not sure what this would translate to in a bunch.

I'll pop along for a Sunday club run in the next couple of weeks.

    Cheers

  11. Hello all,

Not much action this part of the forum, so thought I'd er... liven it up a bit.

I'm Stuart from Paisley, just turned 33 yesterday, and have been commuting daily on the bike for about 5 months. Previous to that the last time I was on a bike was when I had a paper round. Weekend rides usually consist of track rides to Lochwinnoch or Kilmacolm, or if I'm feeling adventurous I'll head to the Port.

Anyway, been having a look at the rides section, and might be interested in the chain gang tomorrow.

    Cheers
