Thanks

Just to let you know that the Track World Championships are taking place in Manchester this year from the 6th to the 8th November. Ellen and I will be riding the 1km time trial on Saturday the 7th in the evening session and the pursuit qualifier on the 8th in the morning and hopefully the pursuit final in the afternoon.
If anyone would like to come and watch then please let me know and I can get you some tickets.
This is the link to the official website if you want further information http://new.britishcycling.org.uk/paracy ... Schedule-0

It would have been better to have spent more time riding with my pilot on the road prior to this event but Ellen did a fantastic job handling the tandem on the corners and dealing with some erratic bike handling by some of the other riders.
Neither of us had any prior road racing experience so although I am disappointed not have medalled I think we did alright for our first attempt.
-
We managed 5th place in the 48 mile road race today. Pretty pleased considering we have no prior road racing experience. Another rousting day though! :-)

Thank you
No I don't think it will be on the tele.
-
We won Silver in the 19.4km time trial in a time of 27:59, which was faster than we thought we would go. Really pleased to have medalled. The USA won the gold and the Germans took the bronze.

Ellen and I are débuting at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships this Friday (time trial) and Sunday (road race) in Bogogno in Italy. Not sure of our chances but hoping to do our very best.

Thanks everyone for putting up with me doing my heart rate efforts. You can visit Dennis in Wishaw General Hospital.
-
Dennis and I will be at the clubrooms for 9:30am if anyone wants to join us on around about a 3 hour run.

I would just like to thank Dennis for organising a wonderful day, Kenny for being a fantastic pilot, Kev for transporting me and the tandem there and back and Morag for her wonderful hospitality! Looking forward to next year's run and will remember to bring some warmer clothes.

Hi there,
In case you missed the program you can watch it on the BBC iplayer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... 5_05_2009/ until tomorrow evening.
The cycling is only on for a disappointing 6 minutes and is 41 minutes into the program.

Hi Kev,
That would be great.
The Trek has mudguards on it which Vicky couldn't get off the last time we tried so it measures about 204cm with them on but we could use the Co-motion tandem which measures around 190cm.
Thanks

Thanks to Kenny for offering to pilot but does anyone have room in their car or have any suggestions for getting the tandem over to Blackwood?
Thanks

WANTED!!!
Are there any budding tandem pilots out there who fancy giving it ago on this run?
None of my current pilots are able to pilot me and I would really like to do this run. So if you would like to give it a go and/or have the transport to take me and the tandem to Blackwood then please let me know.
Thanks

Absolutely delighted to have won the 2 gold medals. A bit of pressure on us yesterday not qualifying fastest but both Ellen and I believed we had more left in the tank to win the second gold. We lost the gold to Lindy Hou in Athens in the sprint and we weren't going to let that happen a second time around.
Thanks for all your support and best wishes.
Hope to get to see some other sports and do a bit of sight seeing before I come home.
Cheers

There is also live coverage of the Paralympic Games on www.ParalympicSport.tv.
Off to bed now, have a big day ahead of me tomorrow and hoping it all goes to plan.

Just to let you know that Ellen and I won Gold medals in both the 1km time trial and the 3km pursuit at the National Disability Track Championships this weekend. We didn't taper for these races and our times weren't fantastic but we did enough to win!

Thanks guys,
Unfortunately as there was no dope control there yesterday it won't count as an official world record.
However, we did set a new world record in the 3km pursuit today of 3:36.752 which with the dope control there will be a new official world record.

Ellen and I rode at a demonstration event during the World Championships a couple of weeks ago and set a new World Record in the 1km TT of 1:10.381.
We were really pleased as we didn't peak for this event.
We will be riding the 1km TT and the 3km pursuit at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester on the 8th and 9th of May. BBC are covering this event.

Thanks guys!
Absolutely delighted to have retained my 1km title but totally amazed at having won the pursuit. We did no specific pursuit training and didn't have a schedule to follow, we just went out and tried to hold around 18s laps. I still can't believe it.

Not too impressed with the BBC coverage to date but maybe they will do better tonight!!
Here is a link to the report for Saturday's races which show our win in the 1km time trial in a new world record time of 1:09.054.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_s ... 348798.stm
We were disappointed to only qualify for the bronze ride in the pursuit yesterday but we rode our socks off to secure the bronze medal in a faster time of 3:38.196 than we rode to win Gold in Beijing. It was also faster than the Irish rode to win the Silver medal!
Thanks
