    Virtual Reliability rides

Since we’re unlikely to get out for the February reliability runs, even if the weather is ok, I’ve put a bit of thought into how we could do these on Zwift. I’m thinking 4 runs on successive Sundays in February, 65, 80, 95 and 110km, 3 groups, cruising at 2, 2.5 and 3 W/kg, setting off 15 minutes apart. No cafe stops, bring your own post run refreshments. Happy to take on board adjustments to the format. Anyone interested?

    Spain Training Camp (sort off)

Hi All With the current fun times that is a COVID pandemic , the February camp will obviously not take place , so with the likelihood of travel restrictions being lifted in the spring , I am planning to go over to Spain October / November. Think what a bounce a Sunny block of endurance miles will do before the onset of winter. The temperature in Spain October/ November is pleasant to warm . Anyway if anybody else is thinking about it it would be good to get a decent group , at the moment I think my gaff may be full , but that will depend on when dates are fixed, which obviously depends on travel restrictions being lifted . post if interested

    Farewell

Davie, Logged into the bunch for the first time this year and shocked and stunned to see your post at the top of my feed. thank you for sharing with us. Can only echo the words and affection shared by others in the memories above. Here's a couple to add: SantaCross at Mull in 2011 (your concession to santa costume just showing through your helmet) and with a breakfast swally at LBL in 2015. A connoisseur of campag and belgian beer. very best wishes, mul

    Spain Training Camp (sort off)

Would be heading to Calpe in summer Billy as I have a villa booking transferred from July 20 to July 21. The thought of the silky smooth mountain roads and sunshine is what is keeping me going. And trying to beat my PB on the Col de Rates 🌞

    Arran - Again !

Either way, once Covid is over a night or two on arran with some cycling & beer would be magic.

    Arran - Again !

After 4 laps of Arran it would be a hospital I'd need rather than a hotel 🤕

    Arran - Again !

Could do 68+56+50 (Figure 8 going over the String, a normal lap then a lap taking the Ross shortcut)

    Arran - Again !

Book a hostel post post covid, see how many can do it, and if anyone stops short they can get the dinner on

    Arran - Again !

Update on this thread and the banter on the WhatsApp thread, Been time limited this week but investigating RGT it looks like you need to subscribe in order to upload a route. I thought I would suss out the free version first to see how it works. On the subject of a UA, basically the established 20mph challenge for the SA and DA is the exact same for a TA or QA, ie you need to average 20mph from when you get off the boat to get back on. I reckon 2 challenges might qualify for a UA, 1) Just doing 4 laps in a day regardless of time, you would need to stay overnight as if you don't average 20mph for the 224 miles then you can't do the ferry thing in a day. 2) Perhaps a better one would be a 50TA, this would be 3 laps of 50 miles over the Ross so 150 miles and the target speed to catch the ferry would be 18mph. I reckon this would work out harder than a DA. So there you go George, if you are looking for an Ultra Arran the scene is set ….

    Farewell

Hi Davie B, was so sorry to hear this news and always seems to happen to life's goods guys. I have some great memories riding with you pal as you were always one to hang back and offer a word of encouragement when I was dropped by the bunch (A regular event). Have some great memories of Marmotte, Flanders and Liege and all the rides we did in Scotland over the years. Even remember you fixing a broken chain to get me home. God bless pal and hope the treatment goes well. Hope to see you back out on the road and sending you best wishes Iain C
