2023 Subscriptions Tom Hill Posted October 2, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 2, 2017 I’m looking for some off-road routes within easy access of Langbank. Thinking messers McLean & Couttie might be able to assist? Anyone else?
Committee Alan McLean Posted October 3, 2017 Committee Report Share Posted October 3, 2017 Not many nice single-track but Paul may have eyes on a secret CX venue. I am afraid your experience is probably more than mine Tom. A few farmer tracks peter out in the hills behind Langbank and the path to Kilmacolm is rideable by CX or MTB once you get up to the old Greenock road. But overall too many fences and gates. If you want cross practice then a short-grassed field with a wee hill is fine. Track behind Port Glasgow Golf Club (Devol Road) then Loch Thom, Greenock cut is ok. Or reverse it: train to Wemyss Bay and hard climb to Kelly Cut, Loch Thom, home. It is really about exploring the OS trails and getting outside rather than super technical off road. 2023 Subscriptions Tom Hill Posted October 4, 2017 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 4, 2017 Thanks Alan. I have run round Greenock cut a few times and thought it would be worth riding. I have gone over the Erskine bridge then up the hill to Loch Hamish and beyond. That is a tough climb and needs fully functioning brakes for the descent on the way back! I just wondered if there was anything similar nearby that I was missing..
