Can I have a firm yes or no over who is wanting to go for a club velodrome session on Sunday 28th February betwen 7pm and 9pm.

The cost of the track hire is £258 so the aim is to get about 16 riders - this is a good number as it will give everyone plenty of track time but also be enough so the costs arent too much - it will work out at under £17 a head for 2 hours of track time which is cheaper than what a 2 hour DST or a 2 hour accreditation class would cost.

If you need a track bike then either see if the club ones are available and if not then bikes can be hired from Glasgow Life for an additional £11.10. The pedals are Look Keo, if you have these cleats already you can use your own shoes if not you will need to hire shoes at an additional £4.80. I will need to know in advance if you need a hire bike and/or shoes. It goes without saying that helmets are also required so remember to bring one.

One thing however that is not required is accreditation - you do NOT need to be accreditated for this session so this is an ideal chance to try the velodrome.

Coach Billy Mac will be taking the session, he one of very few Level 3 track coaches in Scotland so if you are new to all this you are in good hands and he will get you through the basics and get you up riding confidently and safely. For those with previous experience then he'll get us doing some training drills, making sure we havent picked up all sorts of bad riding habits over the years and generally giving us a good arse kicking.

There is quite a tight turn around in confirming the booking so If interested please post before Tuesday 2nd February, as the form needs filling in with details of the numbers going, number of hire bikes required and so on to confirm the booking. There will be some 'friends of the Wheelers' to help make up the numbers and reduce the costs, if the uptake on this from current JWCC members isnt high then there will be more friends there.

Unfortunately it clashes with the final reliability ride of the year, there isnt much i can do about this as Glasgow Life assigned the time and date to us and if we reject it we will go to the back of the queue. Of course nothing to stop you riding the reliability in the morning (or racing in a CX race if there is one on) and then doing the track in the evening :)

Ian A will be able to make it as well

Think so far that is 9 wheelers, couple of friends of wheelers and 4 bikes required.

For those needing bikes what size do you want? As a guide i ride a 54 on the road and the same on the track

Im not sure what the situation is with the club track bikes and if any of these are available - i guess it is worth having a check in the cupboard if turboing in the clubrooms tomorrow
