Ask not what your club can do for you...

News just in from SC towers: the first of Scottish Cycling's 2012 UKCC L2 cycle coaching courses has been confirmed.

Or in English, here's your chance to become a cycling coach. Fully funded.

L2 or Level 2 is really the best intro point into coaching. An L2 certificate allows you to coach groups of riders of any age across the whole spectrum of our sport. You can then go on and specialise in road, TT, MTB, track or even BMX (if you're that way inclined), and then progress to L3 which allows you to coach 1:1 with individual riders.

The Jets have 5 L2 coaches (+1 in training) and one to follow next year. We have 3 track coaches, 1 MTB coach and 1 road and TT coach.

The JWCC have none, but with a growing club, the occasional debate about how a chaingang should be run, developing talent (at all age groups) and a velodrome arriving on our doorstep next year maybe we should!

We're looking for members who are interested in putting themselves forward for this course. The club (and SC) would fund the course (fee £395) - your commitment would be to work with club members and assist them to develop as cyclists and racers.

If you'd like to know more or have questions to ask, please post below or feel free to approach any of our current coaches (list below) to find out what it's like. If there's enough interest, we could organise a session down at the clubrooms to chat it through.

Who's game?

Diary dates: Days one and two will be on the 4th and 5th Feb with a third day on the 28th April. The course will be at Caledonia House, Edinburgh.

Current coaches: Me (road and TT), Kenny Steele (Track), George and Katrina Hamilton (track), Graham Forsyth (tack and MTB).
