Yep, some excellent racing with the top three girls in the kilo all within a few tenths of each other with times of 1m 15 /16 secs. Faster than many male riders and with some amazing 500 splits too.

Kayleigh took third in that event and a fourth in the Kierin. I think she was sitting in fifth overall until the final event , a forty lap points race, which she didn't ride due to a nosebleed and so she got hammered with max penalty points and nosedived down the table. A good warm up for the Nats next week!

Does everyone know that there is a fairly regular fixed wheel session on at Bellahouston where Rab Wardell and an able accomplice are teaching the kids the basics to get then into the races at Dundee and Meadowbank ? It's not too fast so the risks on the Bellahouston 'go kart track' are minimised.

There are already a few youngsters from 'the West' racing track leagues and the like and just like Sarah they are doing really well. I have taken Robyn (11yrs ) along a few times and she seems to be enjoying it. She has since been able to race the Dundee track league in her big sisters old JWCC Skinsuit. No traffic , good coaches and good fun so c'mon folks get them into it!

Thanks for info Jim , most of our junior stars are now competing on a weekly basis at Johnstone jets in Linwood (where we might get our own track one day) Complementing and expanding the network of kids clubs searching and nurturing the superstars of tomorrow.

Good luck to Kayleigh and all our Scotish youth riders next week.
