Hi there,

I hope that email finds you and your members well. Whilst we would usually only send out an update email once a month, there are a few updates that are time sensitive so I would appreciate your support in passing these onto your members where appropriate.

Covid-19 Guidance Update

With the removal of the legal mandate on the wearing of face coverings from today, there are now no measures in place which restrict the activity that your club can deliver. We’d like to thank you all, particularly those within your club that stepped forward to fulfil the Covid-19 Coordinator role for all their time over the past few years in supporting the safe delivery of activity.

British Cycling Coach Education/Development consultation

British Cycling are embarking upon a roadshow as they review their coaching framework. There is an in person workshop this Thursday eveningin Glasgow (see details via the web link below), and there are also a number of virtual opportunities for those that can't make it to an in-person session.

Club Confined Time Trials – Policy Update

We are delighted to advise you of some very positive changes that will be implemented from this year onwards.

Thanks to your valued feedback, we have had very constructive discussions with British Cycling on some progressive steps we can take to enhance the club confined time trial offering in Scotland. Second claim club members will now be permitted to ride club confined time trials and the maximum number of participants per event has been increased to 80. This we feel will increase the accessibility and engagement with club confined time trials for all who wish to participate.

British Cycling have agreed to trial these changes for 12 months on the basis that the guidance on risk assessing and running club confined time trials is implemented. The benefits of this being to help clubs mitigate risk and also demonstrate to the British Cycling insurers, in the event that a claim is made, that we have in place published and accessible guidance available to clubs.

Please find the updated Club Confined Time Trial policy here - which includes links to the risk assessment guidance and risk assessment template. The process for registering club confined time trials are also outlined in the above document, with details on the associated costs if applicable. If you have any questions on this or anything in relation to the new changes, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
