Life Members chung Posted April 25, 2019 Life Members Report Share Posted April 25, 2019 Gerard, I assume you're referring to "general" grease for parts assembly & hub bearings etc. & NOT chain lube! I use Finish-line now but will be getting/trying other "better" ones once I'm done with these ....... such as these: https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Shimano-Workshop-Grease_47584.htm?mkwid=s_dc|pcrid|333160426226|pkw||pmt|b|slid||&pgrid=49968471589&ptaid=dsa-309162948878&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI89rMosHr4QIVGflRCh0m-QreEAMYAyAAEgLvn_D_BwE Yes, from Mr. Shimano .................... I know. There is Campagnolo equivalent but it's hard to find now! https://www.evanscycles.com/campagnolo-grease-tube-100ml-EV201594 It ain't cheap, but if you want better .................... 2023 Subscriptions stuart10ant Posted April 25, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 25, 2019 Shimano anti seize is great for bolts, seatpost etc but for bearings and hubs etc i would recommend the Shimano stuff Chung suggested, it is green coloured stuff, very slick. Avoid lithium grease Gerard Deeley and chung
Administrators Jannza Posted April 25, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted April 25, 2019 I'm using Halfords bike hut stuff just now. Will find out how good it is when I try to swap my pedals back on Monday. The Shimano anti seize stuff is fab but I couldn't buy it locally when I needed it. 2023 Subscriptions XXX Posted April 26, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 26, 2019 Gerard Not all bolts need grease, in fact most bolts shouldn’t have grease on them at all. Anything that needs to be tightened and is exposed to the elements should have anti seize , things like Press fit cups should have a fixing agent on them especially on cervelos as they creak if not done. Carbon posts also need ani seize , so realistically you only need grease for pedal threads QR, and bearings , I use ceramic bearing grease on wheel bearings and Btm Bracket bearings and park tool on the rest. The fixing agent for Press fit cups costs £15 for a tiny nail varnish size bottle
