2023 Subscriptions ginty001 Posted September 20, 2018 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 20, 2018 anyone recommend decent Tubs for the TT Bike.... nothing crazy money, don't really want to spend more than £40'ish on each tyre Cheers Ian
2023 Subscriptions thejanullrichdietplan Posted September 20, 2018 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 20, 2018 Merlin has decent prices on Vittoria tubs. I got the Corsa G+ for £45, looks like it has gone up in price since. They have a Corsa SC for under £40. Chung will know more than me but i think that was considered their 'fastest' race tyre before the Corsa speed came out.
Life Members chung Posted September 20, 2018 Life Members Report Share Posted September 20, 2018 Hi Iain, Iain made some good suggestion via Merlin if you're not looking to spend a fortune on tubs. Is it for a front or back wheel? I have experience only mostly with Vittoria tubs, so that's what I'll recommend & all from Merlin cycles as these are the older versions hence cheaper than the newer G+ series.. This one I have used a lot of - Corsa CX iii, supple, fast rolling, fantastic ride quality but NOT durable at all https://www.merlincycles.com/vittoria-corsa-cx-iii-tubular-tyre-61745.html 23mm only though & in "iffy" blue colour :-) Crono CS 22mm - as name suggest, it's for TT, but only 22mm, not sure if it's wide enough for you, but I'm guessing these are fast tyres & in much respectable all black colour too :-) https://www.merlincycles.com/vittoria-crono-cs-tubular-tyre-700c-117147.html Iain's suggestion - Corsa SC, 23mm, can't see anything wrong with that, tan side wall too for that retro or mis-match look, if you other tub isn't tan colour :-) https://www.merlincycles.com/vittoria-corsa-sc-tubular-tyre-700c-117152.html I'll throw in a wee curve ball - Tufo Hi-Composite Carbon Tubular - only ever had very limited experience with Tufo, but I believe it used to be quite popular, not necessary the model but the brand anyway. https://www.merlincycles.com/tufo-hi-composite-carbon-tubular-tyre-93633.html 23mm too, if that's wide enough for you! All for under 40 quid each, can't really go wrong I guess, hope that helps, Iain! ......................... or you can forget all that & get some clinchers :-) Happy shopping Cheers
