Some video clips from the event if you dare to look back at the scarring moments and tempt the PTSD

If I get away from work on time I'll be along, happy to timekeep or hold up as not feeling great.

Maybe you should train harder then and try giving the training bunch a go

Good summary Billy. Haven’t got much to add to this except that I think we all underestimated how difficult the event would be.
I would also like to thank those that took on the lion's share of organising and driving, and to Billy's house for hosting the BBQ, and Paul especially for cooking the food.
For our wee house I'd like to thank George for organising such nice accomodation - once we'd worked out how to get there it really was a wonderful location. Similarly, I'd like to thank Ginty and Charlie for the car hire and the driving. Both did a sterling job, even when tired and stressed. Thanks!
Finally, the two Ia(i)ns cooked for our house. The food was great and the craic even better. Who can forget the two drunks shouting at each other about the existence/non-existence of God?
All in all I had a splendid time. Would love to go back to the same place and ride for a week, ticking off the iconic climbs in a way compatible with drinking wine and fine dining!

All Wheelers safely over the Tourmalet.....the first time.
Iain Couttie has just left the top of the Aspin and is looking good. Only 2 climbs left!
Lovely day for an Pyrenean picnic, although must be hot climbing on a bike!

Me and Ian at the end into the wet roads. No paceline this time instead Ian suggeated riding two abreast to avoid spary...I thought ok different let's give it a go...we ended up riding two abreast the whole way .
Finished with an avg of 20.3mph not bad for basically a solo effort with Ian beside be .

I'd like to warn everyone never to let Crazy Ivan (aka Galeb) to plan a route. He only knows A roads and dual carriageways. And then he only goes at one pace which he calls tempo. Second worse ride of my life after the Rest and be Thankful last year with Paul McD and Richie Provan.

Splendid rapid night. Well done to new guys. But the usp of this bunch was the guest appearance of one of the best riders in the world - Katie Archibald. Fantastic to ride with such a classy, powerful rider. And, she graciously submitted to our various requests for photos, after she wiped the floor with everyone in the sprint!

Thank you for all of the messages. It certainly was a big week. Two Stripey jumpers and a silver.
Miss Steele leaves for Manchester on Wednesday for a holding camp before flying out to Aigle for the Junior World Champs which start on the 15th August
Me? Well, I’ve just opened another bottle of red :-)

I know this is not strictly the Jets forum and I know many of you will have seen this on Facebook but just had to mention a HUGE congratulations to Lusia Steele who has been selected to represent Team GB at the Junior Worlds in August in the sprint.
Very exciting trip ahead for Kenny methinks

Good ride with Marc in the rain - haven't seen that in a while! After 30 mins or so he decided to cut it short and then like last time solo-ed the rest of the ride to finish with a good avg of 20mph

Did a solo transmitter early on Sunday morning due to domestic things. Thought it worth mentioning East Ayrshire council have been investing in the roads with lots of new tar from the boundary around Stewarton onwards. That route still one of the best 65 milers around here, absolutely stunning on a clear sunny Sunday morn.

Made it round Darryl. Bit of a wait at Portavadie as we just missed the ferry due to riding too slowly after we met you lot! Nice 2 up along loch Fyne to Ardrishaig ( 20th overall I think ) where we turned along the Crinan canal path. Avoided most of the main Oban rd before turning off for Ford and the east side of Loch Awe. Beautiful riding through the trees with some great views of Ben Cruachan before heading back up and over to Inveraray. As time was pushing on we decided to ride back on the main road instead of heading down by Strachur and loch Eck for the ferry. Unfortunately this meant back over the Rest ! Another tough 20 odd mile 2 up got us to Arrochar with Richard pulling well up the “false flat” with great views of Ben Ime ( apparently). As we were now pretty tired we decided to ride down Lomond side on the track/ old road which was as a relief as we had to slow down ! I needed a bit of a break at Balloch and persuaded Richard to go to MacDonalds where I wolfed down a meal deal before polishing off most of Richards cos he is an athlete and struggled to get his down. On through Bonhill , the track and Dumbarton rd for home. I had no Garmin with me and my phone went flat somewhere outside Inveraray. Richard had 203 miles when we went our seperate ways. I would however point out that I rode over and back from Shawlands as well ( sorry Rich ). Left the house at 0530, back at 2215 - I reckon over 330km for me - new PR ( but if it’s not on Strava!) Great day out and thanks to Richard who rode very strongly all day ( I thought he was a trackie )
