BoydJohnston got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Road bike for sale - £600
Road Bike for Sale - Small - £600
I recently built up a road bike, with a mixture of new and used parts, which has been used once and is now surplus to requirements due to ongoing medical issues which will restrict my cycling for the forseeable future.
The build is as follows :
Frame Dolan L’Etape – new, carbon, small (52cm)
Shifters Shimano 105 – used, 11sp
Mechs Shimano 105 – used
Brakes Shimano 105 - used
Chainset Shimano Tiagra – new, 50/34
Wheels Handbuilt at Q-Bikes :
Hubs - Hope RS Mono – used
Rims - Mavic Open Pro Tubeless - new
Tyres - Conti GP 5000 TL – new, set up tubeless
Bars Easton – 38cm, new
Stem Deda – new
Seatpost Alpina – new
Saddle Fabric Scoop – used
The bike is available to be seen in Paisley. Contact me to arrange a visit.

BoydJohnston reacted to GrahamF in British cycling membership
Hi Scott,
We've specified our bikes as part of our household contents cover, it's much less expensive than specific policies or BC membership. The contents insurance also covers 3rd party liability for any incidents that might arise outside competitions. Contents policies vary - I've read the small print of several before choosing one, I think the current one is with the Halifax.

BoydJohnston reacted to EricL in Covid19 update 23/09/2020
New message from Scottish Cycling 😷 We have now had it confirmed from sportscotland that as a result of yesterdays announcements, there is NO impact on organised sport. The importance of organised sport complying with the SGB guidance has been reinforced, particularly with the regards to the following: Encouraging all club members to download the Protect Scotland app - www.protect.scot Ensure that all clubs have in place at least one Covid-19 Coordinator, a Risk Assessment is in place, and a record of all attendees is kept for at least 21 days after an activity has taken place. Wider societal rules apply outside of the organised activity. Please continue to reinforce to club members the importance of adhering to this, considering the image that we portray if large groups are seen without physical distancing before and after activities
Please encourage all club members to ensure they have knowledge of what the guidance is, and ensure that they know who their club Covid-19 Coordinator is for the purposes of Test & Protect.
JWCC - Covid19
I'd like to believe that most of you have read my previous Covid19 Updates and know what is expected from each of us, when JWCC is out on the road, pretty well by now.
Below is the link to our most up to date Scottish Cycling (SC) guidance, which hasn't changed recently, and would encourage every rider to take a little time to read through this so we can all understand what our personal responsibilities are when riding, congregating, and at café stops. Please plan accordingly for before, during and after each group ride.
My thanks go to each of the volunteer bunch ride co-ordinators to date for their part in taking the Test & Protect rider contact details for the club register and promptly sending these on to me.
As a reminder, any member intending to organise a JWCC bunch ride then please make sure you have fully read and understood the latest SC guidance document, confirm with all participants of their need to comply with the general societal rules, and forward the rider contact details, time of ride and any café stop locations to me as soon as possible following completion of the ride. Ideally this will happen automatically and I won't have to chase folk up for these lists. Activities, bunch rides and gatherings posted in the name of JWCC on The Forum, club Facebook page and JWCC WhatsApp will qualify for the need to report. Details of all member riders and any guests are to be included - no exceptions.
Finally, If you are unsure of any aspect of the Covid guidance then please do ask for clarification rather than 'winging it'..... it is up to all of us to get this right! (and remember - no house parties! 😟)

With thanks,
Eric

BoydJohnston got a reaction from chung in Sunday 19th January : Dunlop Dairy
Good run today - but it showed up just how much fitness has been lost. Thanks to Dave and Mitch for waiting at the top of every incline, and to Mitch for the coffee and scone at the cafe.

BoydJohnston reacted to Dave C in Sunday 21st July : Eglinton Country Park Irvine
Boyd, Linda, Mia, Alan and myself left clubrooms at 9.30 and headed to Kilwinning as per route except kept on Blair Road to Kilwinning.
Coffee and scones taken in Tournament Cafe and then returned via Auchentiber Road, Barmill and Greenacres with a tail wind all the way...great
Good blast homeward and thanks to all.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from chung in Sunday 14th July 3 Ferries Route
Brilliant run yesterday.
Time-trialled back to Gourock - no train, so carried on as fast as possible to Port Glasgow and just made the train from Wemyss Bay by a couple of minutes - so SWMBO is still talking to me - though I did have to wash the dishes last night.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Al in Sunday 28th April - anyone out?
I hope to be out, but I'll probably meet at the top of the Bowfield climb, rather than going to the Miller St. Don't wait if I'm not there.

BoydJohnston reacted to martin in The Joansin do Flanders
What a weekend with the Joansin family. Could not have asked for better company, weather, digs, food or cycling.
Looking forward to reliving it all when Chung gives us his full account of the weekend and others sharing their pics and stories. Thanks to all for making it such a memorable event. Same time next year, I hope.
PS yes I'm biaised, but Jets were the best drilled bunch in Flanders.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from martin in Sunday 24th Feb Reliability Run #4
It's likely that I'll be following the Jets - from a distance. Hoping to hang onto them until Largs, because there's no way I'll stay with them up the Haylie Brae.

Graham - at Bridge of Weir, heading west. Couldn't stop - had a dental appointment to get to.

Good run today.
Alan's wheel and the shelter behind his muscular frame were a great benefit and justified his cafe stop.
After being fairly cautious all day, I managed to hit black ice at the Phoenix roundabout on the run down from Elderslie and went through the roundabout on my a**e rather than two wheels. Not enough damage to persuade the wife to help me out in the shower, though .

Pleasant day out. Not many miles, but some good company and a decent cafe stop, which tbh, we didn't really earn.

BoydJohnston reacted to Dave C in Sunday 9th Dec : Dunlop Dairy 2nd attempt
if you were looking for iced tea or iced coffee, today was the day!! Never seen the Bowfield hill as icy as this morning and good decision to head for coffee stop at country club. Good sized bunch out and can try for Dunlop Dairy another day.

Good run today - a not too cold wander round Renfrewshire., with a coffee stop at Castle Semple, ably led by Captain Dave, with Martin, Carol Murray, Linda and myself.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from chung in Sunday 11th November
Thanks for the company, Dave. I guess there will be a few more runs like this over the winter - but that's probably better than starting from virtual scratch again in the spring.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from chung in Sunday 14th Oct : Whitelees Windfarm Eaglesham
Glad to see you there today, Kenny. Dave, Anthony and I timed our arrival at the wind farm perfectly. About 40 cyclists passed us on the way out as we were going in - the girls in the cafe were just getting their breath back - loads of seats available and no queue. Good run today again, though we could do with a few more bodies in the 30-milers group.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from carol cowan in Sunday 14th Oct : Whitelees Windfarm Eaglesham
My child-minding duties are thankfully over now, for a while anyway. I'll be having some recovery time today and tomorrow and hopefully be ready to hang about the back of the group again on Sunday. See you at Miller St, provided the wind and rain have died down a bit by then.

Thanks for all the wheels today, with lots of help and support all morning - and lots of Strava pb's for me. Great bunch run.
