  1. Colin, Unfortunately I won't make it tonight as my car is off the road and there is no way I will get back from work in time Will just have to use tomorrows cycle commute as a substitute for tonights session of pain and suffering Enjoy. Davie

    Bike insurance

Finally getting my carbon bike back on the road after warranty repair. Was thinking about insuring it for general road use and was wondering who the best insurers are. I have got online quotes from a few companies and some of the quotes are extortionate. Any advice welcome. Thanks, Davie
  3. Cheers Colin, I know where you mean now. However I freely admit to being useless at directions & can actually recall a time when I quite literally got lost in the proverbial straight line, so if I'm not there at 7 on Thursday I may be cycling down the frozen food ailse in Morrisons . Davie
  4. Colin, I can see myself getting flogged for 2 hrs but I'm up for it. Can you confirm the exact whereabouts of the "Houston" roundabout, though I've got a feeling there is a clue in ther somewhere Cheers, Davie
  5. Hi Kenny, Can do any weekend apart from the 11th. Davie
  6. Colin, I'm planning on being there will meet at the clubrooms at 09:30 or any other reasonable time. Cheers, Davie
  7. Hi Chung, It is myself you are thinking about but a couple of miles out as it is sunny Glengarnock I hail from, I've racked my brains to see if there are any "cultural" differences between the two which may have caused me take great offence but apart from a few less houses and no' as many pubs I think your fine Anyways I will not be going to work tomorrow and assuming I am feeling OK (decidely worn out today) I will meet you and the rest on the track. Similar to Paul I will head out towards Johnstone and meet youse on the way. All the best, Davie
  8. This may add to the confusion.... but I might need to go into work later on in the Sunday to check on some contractors however I should be free until at least 13:00hrs, don't fancy a real early rise as I am working tomorrow for definate but could do 08:30 at the club rooms or meet somewhere between Glengarnock / Johnstone after that. Assuming I do not need to go into work I would be interested in a wee jaunt over the watter. Will continue following the posts to see if some clarity emerges Davie
  9. Tony, I should be able to wangle another all day "pass" for this so count me in. Take it there will be some car pooling going on for the day? Cheers, Davie
  10. Hi Grant, I have been told by fellow Wheelers you can save yourself a couple of quid if you buy a return ticket in the newsagents in Gourock, never done this myself but believe it is about £4:00. Otherwise you can chip in and buy a book of 10 singles on board for about £21 - this is what a bunch of us did the last time across. However somebody did suggest this may depend on what side of the bed the guy checking the tickets is in (??). anyways worth a try if it means more money for the cafe! Finally a disclaimer - no refunds from me if the above is incorrect Davie

    Friday 21st

I am off on Friday and was wondering if there was anybody up for 50 - 60 miles at a reasonable pace. Will be starting out from Glengarnock about 10 so can meet on the cycle path. Possible route Lochwinnoch / Kilmalcolm / Port Glasgow road / Old Largs Road (Brisbane Glen) and back via Fairlie Moor so some hils involved.
  12. I should be able to make it out and would probably prefer to test myself with the longer run assuming the pace is not too fast (??) Was over this side of the water a couple of weeks ago and some truly stunning roads. A note for anyone who has not been over on the ferry - it is a lot cheaper to buy tickets in the newsagents in Gourock or to buy a block of 10 singles on the ferry.

    Sunday 9th

Billy, Sounds good to me and I should finally have chucked this cold by then . Will need a late fitness test to see whether I will make it out this Sunday (the 3 ferries) otherwise I will be taking it easy. All the best for your century on Saturday. Davie

    Sunday 25th

Won't make it out on Sunday as I am loaded with the cold. Davie
  15. Charlie, With one thing or another I've not made it out for a couple of weeks but I am going to make it along for Sunday. Looks as if it's going to be a cracking day though maybe a bit chillier than late. Cheers, Davie
  16. Hi Lance, looks like a nice day tomorrow so I will roll down to the clubrooms for 9:30. A coast run would suit me and hopefully the pace will be OK for mere mortals such as myself
  17. Kenny, 1 x Short sleeve jersey (medium) 1 x bib shorts (medium) Cheers, Davie

    Sunday 14

A tough shift for me so thanks to all the guys who waited at the top of the many (!!!) climbs and a big thanks to Billy for getting me through the worst of them. Really enjoyed the day, though I could have done without the final ascent of the Haylie Brae, but once on top I was home and dry with an easy wind assisted coast back home to Glengarnock. I keep telling myself it will get easier!! Cheers, Davie
