  1. It will definatey be Sunday I am out as I am looking after Mollie dog on Saturday. Anybody from the friendliest most inclusive club in Miller St, Johnstone is welcome...
  2. Sounds good Andy - if nobody else is interested we can sort out day, time & route between ourselves.....
  3. Hi all, Probably poor etiquette but don't know if there is any appetite for a normal run at the weekend. The drum-up sounds like a great idea but I would probably pick another time of year to stand around a loch side in cycling gear. Thinking Torranyard, Benslie, Stewarton type run - café stop may need to be identified but don't know whether Dunlop Diary would be suitable... Happy enough to go out Saturday if this suits. Cheers, Davie
  4. Charlie the forecast does appear to be very favourable, unfortunately I now have an appointment with my Dad, a JCB, a chainsaw and a big chunk of oak tree.....enjoy.
  5. Dave, Hope you had a blast today I was down at the beach park for a walk earlier on and I saw some of the womens race, the course was holding up extremely well and totally different to last year. A brisk wind all the same... I saw Cedric was on the start list for the seniors race so good luck tomorrow for him and given the ground conditions he should be able to give it a blast without being too compromised by poor tyres....
  6. Andy, Let us know if you are heading to Johnstone in the morning as I may go out for a short run but will need to stay local for time constraints.
  7. If anybody else is interested in this I suggest they organise the trip sooner rather than later as you may literally miss the boat.......accomodation in Valkenberg also seems to be at a premium however I am not too sure whether this is just the booking type web sites trying to manipulate the market.
  8. Aye....Paul's suggestion of somewhere different may be worth consideration.
  9. Iain, I will definitely be up for another trip and not interested in a sportive TBH. I was checking out Annecy as somewhere different and it looks cracking with a mixture of hilly and coastal lake rides. May be a bit more expensive in terms of the social life but as we have not yet entered post Brexit dystopia I still have disposable income. Only concern is the blue passport queue at arrivals may take a day or so to clear. Have not got round to looking at travel logistics but aim to do so in the next week or so. Check it out ....https://www.cycling-challenge.com/top-5-cycling-climbs-lake-annecy/
  10. Aye...would say return on Monday would be best and give us all time to drink our own weight in beer.
  11. Aye a blast.... If Cedric had been riding decent tyres he would have had a real good result, absolutely no fear on the drop-offs even with poor tyres.
  12. Re. national trophy do you not need a full BC licence to take part and will probably get hassled for wearing a skin suit that should not be allowed in the sake of common decency is a couple of years out of date. It's bad enough having to pay anything to BC so unless you can race on provisional licence its a no go for me. My original reason for not entering was the course is a brute and I would likely be lapped by the end of (my) 2nd lap given that more elite racers will be there but saw on FB that they are looking for any old dross to make up the numbers.
  13. Chung, Planet X tubs are for cross on Sunday - if I can't get the replacement bearings in time, the old ones cleaned and lubed will be going back in with HAMMER. If all goes wrong I am reduced to clinchers. Cheers for the offer.....
  14. Best get the excuses in early.................
  15. Impressive ....does it come with a hammer included? My Planet X cheapo carbon tubs are currently in bits and have to confess the replacement bearings are going to be hammered in with a DIY drift, what could possibly go wrong.........the only actual fun thing I remember about Campag maintenance were all the "work arounds" you needed to devise to avoid paying for specific tools - your taking all the fun out of it! Enjoy...it does look mighty impressive.
  16. Good to catch up with youse for a wee bit, would never have lasted the distance after yesterday.....
  17. Alan, probably early season and ferry trip to add to a potentially long drive more than anything else. Reduced field was a welcome change tbh with only some bottleneck and reduced nut job riding on 1st lap long may it continue
  18. Goal was a top thirty finish and trailed home in 31st place on the same time as the 30th place finisher. He crossed me on the line after a last lap where I was riding the technical sections slower to avoid binning it ....still no idea as to where he come from as he was one of 2 riders from Deeside who I had been holding well at bay for the majority of the race. With the reduced field probably the best chance of getting a decent result so now back to trying not to get lapped. Stiil good fun and good to see Paul and Dave in the mix. The 2 eedjits who came to blows on the run-up were another first.....though not as exciting as an airborne cross bike heading towards your windshield.
  19. Windy and skies looking grim down this way. will decide at 8 but possibly not.
  20. Pressure Chung I may not even be there....but hope to be. head up the Bowfield and take some random rights and lefts should get you on a decent road or two....then just keep going left and right ...Just like Amstel Gold. May even end up in Largs.
  21. Chung, I will hope to be out for a bit on the Sunday as long as it is not absolutely chucking it down. Would prefer to stay on local roads so if you are headed to the dark side of the bridge let me know and I will do my own thing.
  22. Definitely will be a shock to the system......
