Astonishing debut by Fergus with 3 wins and a second in the D group.
And great performances from Big Al (win) skinny Al (2nd) and Billy (2nd and 3rd) in C's
And Lewis with a 2nd in B devil.
Not too sure of jets results as was warming up whilst they were racing.
Last week next week before a break, hope to make it

The second paragraph states "Two deaths have been linked to the service." What they haven't mentioned is that a serious knee tendon injury has also been linked to the service, which has resulted in the rider not even sitting on a bike for two and a half months, more than likely leading to a second missed race season in a row!

    All,

As part of my British Cycling Level 2 Coaching course I have sourced a valuable training video which may be of interest.

Please note that it is important to have your sound turned up to fully understand the benefits of the advice given.

    Jann,

Do they have JWCC on them at all? If so, 1 large/x-large cap and 2 pairs of the shorter socks (size 45).

    Thank you very much.

Well that probably went better than I expected

Hung in quite well to finish with the bunch in the 1st scratch race and may even admit to enjoying it The bloke's not well...

Completely messed up the tactics in the Devil and probably went out after about 5 before me.

20 lap points race went off like a rocket even before the start of lap 1 A wee bit of help. Held onto the back of the string and lasted to about lap 15 before the elastic broke (and my legs spun into oblivion thanks to the light gearing on the hire bikes)

Learned that if the A group are doing a 40lap points race they don't do the devil that was supposed to preceed my last scratch race so whilst gabbing in track centre thinking I had plenty of time I looked up to see my group starting and that was the end of my night.

Excuses - Light gearing, too many young uns, still recovering from manflu and race organisers changing race schedule, £30 to race (bike and shoe hire and race entry).

Positives - throughly enjoyed it, did quite well in race 1, didn't crash and didn't cause one.

Probably won't be back until my track bike is built up RSN (Real Soon Now). as £120 a month for about 15mins racing is more than painful

    All,

Apologies it has taken a while, but we are now up and running with the lending of the 5 track bikes the club now has (60cm, 56cm, 54cm, 52cm and 50cm).

This lending is strictly for fully paid up "first claim" JWCC club members only. The lending period will be per calendar month on a first come/first served basis, with no "block booking" allowed. Adults will be asked for a £10 donation towards the upkeep and maintenance of the bikes, whereas juniors/youths will get them for free.

Adults will need to sign and return (email will be accepted) a "disclaimer", and parents/guardians will need to do this on behalf of all juniors/youths. There will be no exceptions to this.

There will also be a log book that goes with each bike, where the person receiving the bike signs to say they have received it in working condition and the person handing it over signs to say it was in good condition when handed over.

The bikes come with two cogs and no pedals. When changing the cogs (if needs be), fitting the pedals and adjusting the bars/saddle/seat post, please do it carefully and with the correct tools. If in doubt, please get a qualified bike mechanic (such as Dooleys Cycles) to do this, as we do not want the bikes or the bolts/threads to be damaged for future users.

We realise that the bikes will be subject to wear and tear, and that accidents do happen, therefore, please be honest and let me know if something needs fixed or replaced.

Thanks again have to go to Dooleys Cycles, SportScotland, Renfrewshire Council and the Johnstone Sports Hub for the funding for the bikes.

I hope all make good use of these bikes and enjoy.

    Cheers,
Ramsay (on behalf of the Committee)

P.S. - I have been advised that the bikes do appear on the small side for their size. i.e. - the 56cm is a bit smaller that a 56cm road frame, and I personally ride a 58cm road frame, but the 60cm track bike fits me. Happy to let people see them for size.

Thanks again to Dooleys, especially for getting the bikes in JWCC colours!!! :banana :banana

    Dear all,

As some of you may already know, the club has secured some funding through its membership and participation in the Johnstone Community Sports Hub, run by Renfrewshire Council. Through the Hub we secured SportScotland funding for a number of coaching courses and for some new equipment.

The coach funding will be used to increase the number of coaches we have in both the main club and the Jets.

The new equipment we are obtaining is:
5 sets of Tacx rollers (will be in the club house later this week, once I have built them up)
5 Dolan track bikes (hopefully delivered within the next week or so)
time keepers stopwatch (to be ordered shortly)

The rollers will be left for all to use in the club rooms (please ensure you strictly follow the instructions to adjust them to fit your bike - it's fairly easy, but not without the instructuions!).

The track bikes (sizes 60cm, 56cm, 54cm, 52cm and 50cm) will be available for all current club members and at present the committee have suggested that they should be "hired" for a 1 month period for £10 (free to youth/junior), which should cover maintenance/repair costs. Once we have them I will start a booking system, based on first come, first served basis.

    Thanks have to go to:
Dooley's Cycles for maximising the amount of kit we are getting for the available funding.
Renfrewshire Council for making the funding application on behalf of the Hub.
    SportScotland for the funding.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

    Cheers,
    Ramsay
