    Frame sizes

Hi Greg, As far as I'm aware, the sizing of any frame is only a guide to the geometry of the designs of the frame, I would suggest that as well as looking at the frame size you also have to take into account the TT (Top Tube) lenght of the frame and personally I would look at the stand over height also. Getting a bike that fits you comfortably is important, if you get one that don't fit you could cause future problems as well as being a bit dangerous while riding. Best way is to test ride the bike before you buy or look at the frame geometry charts of the size of bike that you are thinking of buying. Jim's suggestion is a good starting point, but there are other factors that come into play, so do a bit of research as to your own body dimensions and the bikes. Give Donald Scally, Martin Mulholland & others a PM I'm sure they'll be glad to help! Happy Hunting! Cheers Chung
  7. Hi Jim, I was thinking of going with the 9.00am bunch, but if we get enough bodies, then I'll tag along with the later bunch. Cheers Chung
  8. Hi David, I'll be there. Cafe stop? Cheers Chung

  11. Kenny, The only route I'm sure about is from Newton Mearns to the clubroom, unless the bunch want to ride around the West of Scotland aimlessly for the rest of the day, then I'm glad to plan the route. Oh, didn't you hear about the stunt I pulled down at the Fred Whitton ride ........Don't want to give my secrets away you know KennyS you should make a good journo....mis-quoting other poeples info...what I said was.... "I'm not really bothered about distance or going fast. As long as there are NO of hills" Cheers Chung[/b]
  12. I'm keen to join the earlier 30 milers this week to get to know some new faces, if there's not much happening on the later bunch. Cheers Chung
  13. David, Great stuff, I'm in......better get the Summer bike back out from storage if we're going to tackle some hills. Sorry Kenny, looks like I can't join yous for the earlier run if indeed we are going to do the Kilgreggan run. Cheers Chung
  14. Hello all, Will there be a run for the late risers? If so what's the plan, if no I'll join the 30 milers. Seems they did more miles than us last week, it must have been the shortest run I've ever done, I think we manage about 25 miles shocking Cheers Chung
  15. Well Done, guys! Sounds like really fast and furious, don't be too hard on your self Duncan, you did finish the race in the end. 14th out of 22 ain't that bad at all....it's all part of the experiance isn't it? Cheers Chung
  16. Like wise, guys, great to hear that you enjoyed the ride. 4 of us, Campbell, John C., Russell & myself started from the club room sharp at 8.30pm with David M not being able to join us but did turn up at the clubroom with a printed map of our plan route which really came in handy, Cheers for that. Headed down the cycle track towards Port Glasgow for the 10am Gourock ferry and Frank manage to join us, but only for a wee while as he was still feeling the after effect of a nasty cold and peeled off before we got to BOW. As we cross the water towards Dunoon, the sky cleared up and the sun was shinning on our back the whole day long, magic! Stephen Hickie joined us on the top of the Loch Tarzon climb as we made our way towards Colintrave where another 3 from the 30 milers Frazer, John and Greg was waiting which swelled the bunch to 8. A steady loop round the island where everybody doing spells on the front and a punture for Frazer before we seattle in for a much needed lunch in Rothsay. Before that we even manage to wave off the road race that was taking place as part of the bike events that was happening in Rothsay. By the way how did you guys do? (Alan Mclean, Jim D & Duncan from the Wheelers) Got back to the main land after 4pm and the final run in back to the clubroom with the 4 who started in the morning and Greg joining us. All in all 92 miles on the clock and 3 ferry trips back home just before 6.30pm. What a great day out, especially with the weather being so kind. Good effect by eveyone and welldone to the 30 milers and Greg for doing a PB. Good to see Stephen back, remember skiing is a much more dangerous sport that cycling So ........... when do we put our mudguards back on. Cheer Chung
