Darryl Gunson reacted to Ian Archibald in 2up TT championship, 7th September
I think James gets the man of the match. A GT rule of thumb is you can go a minute quicker on a wheel (equally matched pair taking turns - 30s). James to take one and a half minutes off his best must first have been millimetres off Sam's back wheel and second, buried himself to stay there. Balls of steel on both counts. Double kudos. And single kudos for Sam to have been so steady to bring them home.

Well done all, and thanks to David for timekeeping. Congratulations to Iain and Ian, closely followed by Sam and James.

Darryl Gunson got a reaction from Roberto in Congratulations to Eileen McGlynn
Just read that Eileen has won another Olympic medal in the tandem pursuit at the Paralympics. Congratulations to Eileen, who many of you will remember is a past member of JWCC. I have fond memories of some of the runs when she and Denis (White) turned out on the tandem. Chapeau!

Inspirational stuff from Aileen who had retired a year before event , some of us older guys remember her early career when Martin Keir was her pilot for a number of years . She was a regular solo rider back in these days which was also a huge achievement given her sight impairment.

The hilly TT championship is normally run over three events, with points awarded for 1st , 2nd and 3rd in each race. This year has been different, so this years Hilly TT championship will be decided on the basis of 1 event, held on 28th August, decided on first past the post.
09:45 meet in Langbank for 10:00 off, post up if you’re coming along. As usual, we need a volunteer to timekeep on the day.

There are roadworks in Houston village, due to be cleared on Friday 27th, so keep an eye on the bunch to confirm this is actually the case.
On the upside, it means some new, smooth tarmac through the village.

If the village is shut we could slightly shorten the rout and turn at the closed sign

Good wee group of 30 milers, intermediates and main bunchers set off from Miller St. for a few gentle hours around Barmill, Beith, Lochwinnoch, and Kilmalcolm. Think we delivered on the three C’s- cake, coffee, and chat. We did get a wee bit wet, and I think a few folks turned off early (Frank? David?) but the cafe in Kilmalcolm was super - good shout @Ianarchibald. Had a good chat with the Glasgow United boys, and bumped into JWCC legend Katrina Hair.
All in all another good day on the bike.
Cheers 🍻
