  1. I’ll try for this. Will confirm on Saturday
  2. Hi folks Does anyone have one of these? Rear mech hanger for Scott Foil rim brake 2017 model? Have ordered one but it may not come in time for Rob’s race on Saturday. Tia. D
  3. To paraphrase Mark Twain, rumours of the recent demise of the main bunch Sunday runs, are a bit exaggerated! A good size bunch left the club for Largs via Brisbane Glen. After a brief stop we headed to West Kilbride, Dalry, Barmill, and home. It was left to the hardcore to go for a couple of light refreshments in Howood, with the rest pleading time constraints, family duties, and other excuses 😅 if you don’t believe me, the images below quite clearly show a bunch of cyclists hanging around the public lavatories in Largs 😀
  4. Thanks to all who took part in our 3rd APR. A ve try fun morning with some strong performances. Our group was very smooth, I thought, with everyone sharing the work. Opted for keeping it together when we got caught 😅
  5. Hi folks Our 3rd APR training ride takes place this Saturday morning. Usual format. 9.30 clubrooms for ride over to the circuit. Hopefully we can get a few more people this week, especially in the early groups. cheers
  6. Quick reminder: Wednesday social ride is at 6.30 this week.
  7. Good turnout for our first social ride of the season. Good to see some faces I’ve not seen for a while. Everyone was very chatty and the pace was exactly as advertised. Same again next week - unless folks are tt ing. Cheers
  8. Hi Billy It is true that the long Sunday runs we used to do don’t seem as popular these days. All sorts of possible explanations for this. But, I think it’s premature to sound the death knell of the Sunday Run just yet. After all, people are going out on their bikes every Sunday. Yesterday we had a great ride with a coffee stop. The lowest distance for riders was probably me with about 85k with others doing nearer 100k and Matt doing 160 +. Not quite the numbers of yesteryear perhaps but still a nice run. I’m sure there will be plenty of nice Sunday runs as the weather gets warmer.
  9. Hi folks Just to let you know that, by popular demand, the Wednesday night social rides are back! Starting this Wednesday- 6.10 (reverting to 6.30 in May) sharp at clubrooms for 30 social miles around the lanes near Barmill. Definitely not a training ride. Hope to see some of you out.
  10. Many thanks and congratulations to all who turned out today. Turned out to be quite a challenging circuit, especially with the wind. We had 4 groups, but pretty soon there was a natural order established 😀with riders all around the course in wee groups. Big congratulations to the scratch group who flew by everyone. Thanks also to our resident paparazzo- Iain McTavish - for some excellent photos. All in all I think that was quite good. Just need better legs 😅 I propose we stick to this circuit for the next one in 2 weeks time. I’ll have a rethink about the time gaps- especially to the scratch group 😀. Cheers
  11. Final reminder about the APR training ride tomorrow. 9.30 at the clubrooms, heading down the track to Howood (if anyone wants to meet on the way). The more riders we get better we can fine-tune the composition of the groups so that everyone gets a ride with people of similar ability, which should mean a nice workout. Distance is somewhere between 23 and 28 miles, depending on what folks are up for. Time gaps will be generous to give all groups a sporting chance. If any of you feel the distance is not enough, then the option is to do as the pros do and do an extra hour or more😅 Hope to see some of you tomorrow. Cheers

  13. Hi folks Here is the circuit for the Saturday APR https://www.strava.com/routes/2952138347767742150
  14. Hi folks Reminder of more APR fun this Saturday (23rd). Usual roll out from Miller Street at 9.30. This time we will use the restricted gear tt course around Greenacres. The last session was good fun. Let’s see if we can get a few more groups this time. Cheers
  15. Also great to see Tom Clark at the roll out. Hopefully see you out more, perhaps our Wednesday evening socials, or Sunday rides.
  16. Well that was fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Some very strong performances from: Beppo, Dave, Tommy, and first across the line- Ali. Well done 👏 Scratch group very strong with the sprint a close tussle between top Junior fast guy Jamie T, and Robbie G. Next one in 2 weeks time.
  17. Would advise ‘training wheels’ as road has a few rough bits 😀
  18. Hi folks Just a quick reminder for This Saturday. As part of our revised JWCC confined events calendar, in consultation with members, we will be holding a few informal APR training sessions through April, May and possibly June. The idea is quite straight forwards in that this is a format for people to have a good ‘work out’ with riders of a similar ability, in a ‘race-like’ format. For those who do not know what APR means, it stands for Australian Pursuit Race, which is a handicapped event with groups going off at timed intervals. The circuit will be around Barmill. On the dates below we will meet at 9.30, at the club rooms, and ride over to the circuit. We will ride a lap of the circuit together and then we will set the groups off. I’m thinking 2 or 3 laps We want these events to be for everyone. It does not matter how fit or unfit you are as we will place you in an appropriate group based on age, fitness and or ability. The APR format is ideal. I encourage all members, young and old, to get involved. Hardened racers, fast guys can get a good workout in the scratch group, and those relatively new to all this can experience some of the buzz of working together in a group (a breakaway 😄) with others of similar ability. It should be fun. We hope to see some of you there April 9th, 23rd May 7th, 21st June: tbc Regards Darryl
  19. Well done everyone. I’ve got a wee video clip of Colin going off course despite me shouting him 😅
