  5. I met first Alex when our sons played football together about twelve years ago. We were neighbours in Kilmacolm before the family moved to Houston. At that time he was lived on a diet of business lunches and weighed about 17 stone. He was always a very generous and nice guy. It was super to see him develop on the bike. First time I knew he was serious was when his son told me that Alex had taken my Strava segment on West Glen Road! (It was a long time ago). The actual bike riding is trivial but the friendships and shared experiences are very real and Alex will be a much missed part of the bunch. This is a terrible loss and I hope to join to join club members at the funeral. Thanks to Glen for keeping us up to date.

  6. Wham bam. Made even more "interesting" this week with the addition of Gregg O. Marc and I decided to grab a coffee to let Galeb and Gregg ride up the Heely at tempo and we would catch them at the top They must have taken a different route as we never did see them ....I took a picture of my legs when I got home

Great ride with everyone today; thank-you. Even the punctures came at just the right time for recovery - lol Home, beer, shower, few more beers, dinner, beer and an early night. If Carlsberg did Fathers Days......

Great run out today. Wasn't a great start with a puncture at the clubhouse, but got going and hung in to Largs. Finally burst on Lochlibo Road, and soft pedalled (nae option!) to Amaretto's for a recovery beer.

And kudos to Glenn & Scott who were so keen they headed back to Dunlop for extra miles after cresting Dalek Brae-we did try to shout you but our cries were drowned out by the roar of your competitive fires

Considering that some of the regulars were otherwise engaged, this was a really good turnout. A big group made its way round the coast to Largs where we briefly saw Marc and Paul. We then continued around the coast to Kilwinning and on to Lochibo Road. After a rapid few miles we turned at Burnhouse for Dunlop and then finished with the sewing bee route. Good to see the Bison back to his old self, and impressive ride by new guy Scott. In fact the whole bunch is going well. 84 splendid miles for me. Great way to spend Father’s Day.

Such sad news. Always smiling, with words of encouragement, as he ripped the legs off you! I will be at the funeral but not Amaretto.

Terribly sad news. Any time I met Alex he was always kind and smiling, and I don't think I had a single conversation with him during which he didn't make me laugh. He was a pleasure to be around. Rest in peace friend, may your kindness inspire kindness in others and your smile always be remembered. Could you pass my condolences on to Alex's family Glen? I plan to attend the crematorium, possibly Amaretto.
