I have entered. It is a great day out and I'd recommend it to all our members. If you use a road bike you can subtract a minute off your time to get a proxy comparison with the TT specialists. Also we get a team photograph. Fastest 8 riders times are aggregated to work out the winning club. We have some new superb TT'ers who can bring us home the bacon.

This is not just for the main bunch riders. There are definitely some 30 milers who should come along and put down their marker.

It costs £13 and you enter on the CTT website:https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/

You need to register with the CTT, there is no cost to join the CTT - the club pays our membership. Once you register, the CTT website will store and display all your results.

Hi all, following on from Mr Maclean’s post, I’ll take this on for next couple of weeks or until racing starts back.

First event, next Tuesday. Alan has suggested a 3 hour window. So let’s go for 6pm to 9pm? Or do you want an all day event?

For those that don’t know, the course starts just after house on left hand side at start of Georgetown Rd & continues to roundabout at Crosslee. Back in to finish a few yards before the start.

You will be riding by yourself with no timekeeper or pusher off. Please ride responsibly and if you bump into a club member please stay socially distant. If a rider catches you please don’t sit on their wheel.

As for collating results? Follow me on Strava & I’ll follow you back. Also, post your times here.

I may change the night, week to week, depending on weather. No fun in riding in rain & wind.

	open to constructive suggestions 🤔

Matt Henon from GTR has asked me to publicise the Lyle Hill Race on Saturday 28 September:

	https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/19509

The Lyle Hill overlooks Gourock. The Bunch pass it every time they cycle to Largs but I suspect they never take the pleasant detour to what is a wonderful view and a fantastic location.

I've just come back from the Stow triple hill race where the under 16's showed me a clean pair of heels. Hill racing is particularly suited to our lightweight juniors where restricted gearing is not a handicap. And I'd enjoy getting a stuffing from the Jets; as long as they come out on the winter Renfrew bunch and let me get my own back.

The hill takes 5mins and I suspect power climbers like Marc Kelly could press me all the way. Then there are the hard men like Galeb and Charlie, and the softies like Richie and Billy. Be nice to see how we all measure up against each other.

A big call out to everyone within the Johnstone Wheelers family.

This year I am organising the Sam Dooley TT and in order to make it a massive success for our club we need lots of volunteers. Required for the day will be a signing on crew, timekeepers, marshals placed at important points on the course and general helpers at Bishopton Community Centre. If anyone has previous experience of any of these roles then let me know. Also on the day we will need a generous donation of the usual foodstuffs for all of the riders, helpers and any other cycling groupies.

Post up below if you can help out, or PM me if you prefer.

This on Facebook today; do we support the motion?

	---------

Could everyone please ask their club secretary (or someone on behalf of each club) to email their clubs vote in support of this proposal to the CTT Scotland District Secretary

	wroseholm@aol.com.

A simple email saying "We support the the Velopreda proposal to keep crash hats compulsory for all TTs in Scotland"

	CTT Scotland AGM 2018

	Proposal: From Velopreda.

That all events promoted under the auspices of CTT Scotland District will have a compulsory crash helmet rule in line with that currently in force by British Cycling and the UCI. As local District regulations cannot override CTT National regulations it will be implemented in Scotland by means of a voluntary 'gentleman's agreement' between clubs and riders.

	Reasons-

	1. We should not abandon a safety measure which has been successfully implemented in Scotland for over 25 years.

	2. The recent trend towards removing helmets in hill climbs gives an unfair advantage to riders who are prepared to sacrifice safety over riders who are not. Keeping the Helmet rule in place will ensure a level playing field for everyone.

3 Riding without helmets in hill climbs could potentially lead to riders abandoning helmets in other TTs

4 The argument that helmets are not required in hill climbs is not a valid one – Helmets are designed and tested to protect against head impact injury resulting from a fall from a height of between 1 and 2 meters onto a pavement or kerb edge at a speed ranging from 0mph -15mph – exactly the type of speed a rider would be travelling at in a hill climb.

5 Regardless of the arguments surrounding helmet use we feel that abandoning a safety measure currently in place is a completely retrogressive step for Scottish time trialling and we hope the District will agree to pass this proposal.
